This squib appeared on the KHOU website on November 18 but is seems to be only a fraction of the story. Read the comments below the story please.
ATLANTA -- AirTran Airways says a flight from Atlanta to Houston with more than 70 passengers on board was delayed when a passenger refused to end a cell phone call.
... Flight 297, a Boeing 717, was taxiing on the runway in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon when a crew member asked a passenger to turn off his phone.
... after several failed attempts by the crew member to end the conversation, the captain returned the plane to the gate.
... the passenger complied when he was asked to get off the plane. He says no charges were filed, and that the plane departed for Houston 2 ½ hours later.

I cannot see the plane waiting for the muslims’ search given aggressive passenger behavior which clearly eclipsed the standard of the lawsuit some airline recently lost about praying muslims thrown off.
Read this as well.
I don’t know if this story is true, but it’s amazing how quick many people are to pooh pooh this stuff. How many people see something suspicious but keep their mouths shut because they think they will just be called nutcases?
The equipment for this flight is a Boeing 717. There are at least two floor plans for the B-717: A one-class layout, and a two-class layout. The two class layout shows 8 "high class" seats (two rows) in the forward cabin, followed by a bulkhead, followed by the coach section. Attempting to book a seat on this flight at airtran-dot-com gave me the choice of coach class or business class. So AirTran seems to use the two-class layout. This is consistent with the story.
FWIW.
Arabs, particularly the traditional ones, become very strange in groups. It’s a pack-mentality. I was on a flight outside of US where similar things happened. A few of the group were making outrageous demands / were out of control, and the polite Asian stewardesses were simply out of their depth dealing with those thugs. One of the group was clearly the “alpha male” and the others with him therefore seemed required to follow him. It didn’t get resolved until armed security showed up on the plane.
Yeah, the response here surprises me as well. The story seems to be becoming corroborated. I asked my notifying source where it came from and have not heard back but his contacts spread pretty far and I would not be surprised to know he or someone he knows, knows someone on the flight.
There were 5 crew and 73 - ll = 71 non-arab passengers on the flight who know at least some of what actually happened.
IMO authorities are so prone to seeking prosecution of the right doers (seals, marines, etc.) and we have become so politically correct and so self-conscious about being sued by someone for something that we have become silent. How would you like to have CAIR suing you on behalf of some raghead for some perceived offense. Who knows, someone may have gotten a busted lip?
We have become paralyzed by our new version of freedom, equality, rights and whatever to the point we can’t protect ourselves and the enemy is laughing at us.
I call BS
Thanks for posting the real story.
Whether this incident is true or not is not the point. With the Ft. Hood shootings it is obvious that political correctness and a pre 9-11 mentality by the administration will allow a major terrorist incident to occur in the not too distant future. Maybe then we will wake up to the threat within our own borders.
*ping* - already posted over here
THANKS THANKS.
Here is how I feel about these types of stories.... Man up and kick the ever living shit out of any towel head who dares to act up on your flight. Beat him, her and whoever else they are with. If I am on your flight, you can bet that I will assist you if you act before I do.
I'm not saying it happened just so. But I can't find any technical flaws in the tale.
It would be a pleasure to pound on them with you.
I wonder if any of them have anything to say.
Here’s my thread from last night. Interesting comments.

Good! I’ll do it on my own, but I am glad there is another American out there who does not give a crap about how the liberal pc crowd would react.
Don’t tread on me!
Remember the Alamo!
I don't think so. I got an e-mail at my home with the whole story above yesterday and I was told that the person relating the story who was there is actually a freeper in good standing. No, I think it's a probe and our complacence is about to be tested. While the airline industry remains at threat level Orange and the rest of us are supposedly on Yellow, the reality is we've pretty much all sunk back to pre-911 levels of readiness. We're facing a deadly enemy and he learns from the past (unlike us).
Notice the new arrangement of attackers. Before there were 3 to 5 attackers and they tended to congregate closer together. Now they've upped the number to eleven and placed them strategically and tactically throughout the aircraft. They KNOW that it's almost certain we'll fight back. For them, it's okay. They'll just respond in kind. I suspect they (AQ) may be having more difficulty in securing a nuke to use on us and the airplane attack offers the same bang for the buck, especially if you seize more planes with more high density (in terms of population) targets. They could go after huge malls in the height of the holiday shopping season. They could target the bowl games and I have a thousand ideas but I'd rather not give them any more hints. I'm sure they lurk here on FR.
As for calling BS or referring to it as being ummm internetty, I would remind those folks that the 911 plot would also have been labeled such on September 10th 2001.
The curtain is not closed until after takeoff. Sometimes, it isn't closed at all.
