This is why they need to have a 3rd tier of seat types. Say about 2 rows of extra large seats. Not quite first class, and somewhat cheaper, but bigger seats. And then REQUIRE that anyone over a certain weight MUST use those seats or they don't fly.

Beyond the obvious comfort issue, there is a safety problem. In even mild turbulence that man could crush the guy next to him. FAA needs to get involved if the airlines won't.

“FAA needs to get involved if the airlines won’t.”

And you call yourself a conservative?

This looks like a small problem, which you want government to get involved with.

Why limit it to airlines? Why not buses, all government buildings, hospitals, etc.

And why just big people?

Why not government mandated seats for small people?

We can have a cabinet level position for seating fairness.

But why limit it to just seating? How about standing, lying down?

Government mandated bed sizes? And firmness, of course>

Government specializes in big intrusive costly solutions, for small and/or private problems.

Comprende?
