Alternative media scoops MSM on Tiger Woods story
American Thinker ^ | 11/28/2009 | Rick Moran

So one of the greatest athletes in the world is unable to navigate the treacherous arc of his driveway and has to be rescued by his wife?

Mrs. Woods breaks the rear window of Tiger's 2009 Escalade to free him and the police arrive to find Tiger "in and out of consciousness" on the ground? All of this most unusual activity takes place at 2:25 a.m. with the same guy who can thread a 1 iron through the fork of a sapling and onto the green suddenly unable to negotiate an Escalade around the same fire hydrant and tree he zips by every time he leaves home.

The first report out of the Florida Highway Patrol sounds like it was written by the same disinterested apologists that covered the Ft. Hood jihadist's escapades. This, from the WESH Orlando TV station website:

"FHP said the crash is still under investigation. It said alcohol did not play a role in the crash, but that charges are pending."

Right. And the Ft. Hood shootings weren't terrorism. We know how this works.

I submit that the glowing adulation Woods receives from sportswriters and the kid-glove treatment he is receiving from the FHP is based every bit as much on political correctness as the willful blindness of the FBI, the U.S. Army, and the colluding media have been regarding the terrorist acts at Ft. Hood.

How many red flags does this protected apple of the media's eye have to unfurl before we get the truth about what Tiger Woods was doing driving out of control at 2 o'clock in the morning?

"The accident report was not released until nearly 12 hours after Woods was injured." The police say they don't usually release information about accidents but did so in the case because of numerous press inquiries.

As one might expect, the alternative media continues to do the work that the criminal justice system won't do. TMZ provide s a late update giving some needed perspective:

"Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ Tiger Woods' early morning accident came right after an argument with his wife, Elin Nordegren.

We're told Elin told cops about the argument at the scene of the accident and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital where he was treated.

One Florida law enforcement official called it "a domestic issue.

[...]

UPDATE -- We're told the Florida Highway Patrol went to Tiger's house this afternoon to talk to him about the accident -- but they were turned away by his wife, who said he was sleeping. The FHP plans to try and talk to Woods again tomorrow. "

Is this standard operating procedure for the Florida Highway Patrol? Would the FHP allow your wife to shoo away the investigating officers who came to your door?

We just need to know: when did Elin break out that window and why did she do it?

If you want news, look to the Alternative Media, not the State Run Media.

The latter now spends most of its energy in endless cover-ups, with no investigative reporting.

But did she choose a 9 iron or a 3 iron? It makes a difference.

Well, actually, I don’t think that the press has an obligation to bring out the marital problems of sports stars. If Tiger Woods wants to cover up a marital dispute, it’s no big deal. And, in fact, Drudge has a later story now on his website.

Maybe the press should spend more time on the crimes and “secrets” of our politicians, those to whom we have entrusted the welfare of our country. I’m more interested in whether Obama was born in Kenya and is a corrupt criminal who lied his way into office so he could destroy our country than I am whether Tiger had a fight with his wife.

FReeper OldDeckHand gets credit for being the first one to suggest that this was a domestic disturbance.

First crash photos here via Drudge (although this means he had paparazzi camped outside his house — kinda sad if you ask me). http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/11/first-photos-tiger-woods-car-smashed-tree

Just off hand why is it Elin Nordegren and not Elin Woods? Have they redefined marriage again or aren’t they really married? Excuse the queries but I’m not an avid National Enquirer reader so sometimes I’m a little out of date on stuff like this.

Sometimes women with careers do not change their names when they marry.

Isn’t that the truth. There’s too much “bread and circuses” to our media these days.

Why, yes, yes, shore thing...I just don't think I can face the morrow without this gem of news.

Sheesh!

"FReeper OldDeckHand gets credit for being the first one to suggest that this was a domestic disturbance."

Thanks for the shout-out. Honestly, this story proves how incredibly stupid reporters are today. How could none of them at least raise the question of domestic disturbance, given the circumstances? Holiday, 0230, car crash, broken window, golf club, lacerated face with no airbag deployment. The conclusion draws itself, really. It's quite shameful on their part.

I don’t know if that’s the money quote. Were the media “protecting” Tiger OR his wife?

Seems that Tiger was alleged by his wife BASED ON RUMOR SITES? to be seeing another woman. Now, this may not even be true and while I don’t typically think of fiery-tempered Scandinavians, they are the descendants of Vikings. Tiger Woods may be innocent of what he is accused of by his wife, but was that quote supposed to make us think Tiger Woods hit his wife?

That seems a bit far-fetched. It seems more likely (as he’s the one with all the injuries) that he tried to escape a woman at the height of emotional loss of control due to jealousy. Even if he WERE guilty, attacking him with a golf club is not permissible unless you find him in flagrante delicto, maybe.

So if anything state-run media is protecting his wife or not allowing a non-orthodox narrative of domestic abuse to be told-—not covering for Tiger in any kind of malfeasance.

I agree that Zerobama’s birthplace and criminality are far more important to our country. That said, if Tiger keeps his marital disputes away from public streets (and automobile accidents), they would get far less attention.

I agree. Most of us who read the scroll of events at the bottom of the tv screen and heard the constant updates figured this one out.

I don’t know what the ins and outs of this marital dispute are, but everything I’ve seen of Tiger Woods shows him to be a very decent guy who is careful not to use his prominence the way so many “stars” do.

Bill Clinton tried to use him for a photo op, and Tiger avoided it. Obama has also tried ot use him, and so far he has avoided that.

It sounds as if his wife had a screaming hissy fit, scratched his face, and possibly chased him out of the house with a golf club, and then bashed in the rear window as he tried to pull out of the driveway.

It sounds as if he is mostly trying to cover up for her, not himself.

Some famous people constantly thrust themselves into the spotlight. I don’t get the impression that Tiger Woods is that kind of guy.

Ok, so wifey-poo’s story is she had to bash out the back window to free him from his driver’s seat.

I have some waterfront property in Arizona for sale.

What’s with the scandalized tone that - gasp! - Tiger Woods was driving somewhere at 2 a.m.? He’s a grown man. As a fellow adult, I know I occasionally have reason to be out at 2 a.m. too. Our society tolerates so much, but suddenly we’re so prim about a 33-year-old man breaking an imaginary curfew?

There may well be more to this story, but nothing I feel entitled to know about. If we never find out the whole truth about a one-car accident involving a professional golfer, it will be less than earth-shattering.
