Commonsense would dictate that coed dorms are a horrible idea. You do not need a scientific study to know that putting young men and women together in a dorm is inviting trouble. They should be called brothels rather than coed dorms.

Bravo, well said and true. Stupid women, just stupid.
To: BenLurkin
Or perhaps the people who allowed it at the start were simply stupid. Locally, in New York, there's a big push on to build a dormitory for the community college. For a community college. The State is broke, the county is laying people off and the taxpayers are against this but...the push for the dormitory proceeds.

Obviously I agree. However, it is interesting how rare a society where men have to please women is.
I read a recent article about how much of male behavior has evolved (Darwin) out of their need to please women in the mating game. But thru most of history, and in a good deal of the world today, women didn’t get a choice about who they were mated with. Arranged marriages, sexual slavery, concubinage and all that. Rome, Greece, Israel (ancient), Islam, China, India, Africa, the European Middle Ages, etc.
The authors were extrapolating western society into the distant past as if it were the human norm, when actually it is pretty uncommon in this regard.
The hilarious part is that modern feminists think western culture is uniquely oppressive to women, when the opposite was true even 100 years ago, much less today.

I think that should be Coed Dorms Fuel Drinking and Sex just to acknowledge the usual order of things. ;-) You might think so however it has been my experience that too much drinking leads to much disappointment regarding subsequent efforts at sexual performance. The idea should be to fuel the passion, not drown it.

Agreed now, but not too much 40 years ago when I resided in a coed dorm.

The rub is that tax money funds this fuel. On the spectrum of tax money waste, this one doesn't seem so bad to me......

To a point, I think they’re right. But on the other hand, I lived in a co-ed dorm for three years in college...and y’know, when that allegedly-hot chick from the second floor comes down to the laundry room at 11 pm with her hair up in curlers, no makeup on, and wearing an old-lady bathrobe and fuzzy bunny slippers? It kills the lust a bit.
(Yes, this really happened. Many times.)

Got the real thing in the next room, so they're looking at pictures. Sheesh. Researching how to spice up their jaded, hoo-hum, humdrum sex lives?
If it ani't virtual, it ain't reality!

If people had to get both their education and their jollies on their own dime then neither would be treated as frivolously. If people can't get four years "fro free" at a university, how else will they ever get a high school education?

LOL
The funniest thing about this is that at many colleges these dorms have been promoted and built in order to save the world from fraternities.
Those evil fraternities that had parties on weekends where sex and drinking would take place!
Stupid totalitarians...

No one ever asked for yours either huh? Ditto for my military discharge. Not once in 20 years has anyone asked to see it for employment purposes. Other than when I applied for student loans, it’s never left the house. I found that terribly disappointing.
