I did this last year and a lot of good recipes were posted so I thought I'd try it again. Take one and/or leave one!
My grandmother canned venison, stewed chicken and *real* mincemeat (the kind with venison, beef and/or moose in it). They lived off of what my grandfather killed or raised.
Hi long time no ping. How are you doing?
Know who I miss? carlo3b. He did some great threads. He even has his own site, cooking with chef carlo. Haven’t seen him in a while.
Carlo, we miss you. Hope you are well.
Thanks for the thread

A bag of salad mix = good to go?
Oh, dear.
Just this week I warned my daughter away from soy products, which they have been using a lot.
I have low thyroid and so avoid soy, not to mention, I try not to get estrogen dominant, which soy contributes to.
And hey, nobody needs to have a ton of genetically modified food, which is what soy is.
OK, I will get down from my soapbox now.
So, no soya Joya?
gmta
That’s OK.
Toooo funny.
I try to avoid it. Soybean oil is in almost all prepared salad dressings, so I do have some that way every now and then.
No soya for joya.
LOL.
My love is a woman named Joy. I have more fun during the holidays, the season of “Joy”, with the word play! She may be sick of it, but she really is my pride and Joy!
From last year, kalee’s recipe for peanut soup
Plantation Peanut Soup
Serves 8
Ingredients:
6 cups chicken broth [or veggie broth?]
½ cup celery, chopped
½ teaspoons salt
½ cup onion, chopped
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup peanut butter, chunky
2 cups light cream
½ cup flour
½ cup water
1 cup peanuts, chopped (reserve ½ cup for garnish)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients (except flour and water) in crockpot, cover and cook on Low for 4 hours.
In a separate bowl, combine flour and water and mix into soup, stirring well.
Cook on High for an additional 20-25 minutes to thicken, stirring occasionally.
To serve: Ladle into bowls, garnish each serving with a tablespoon or so of good Bourbon, a dollop of unsweetened whipped cream, a sprinkle of paprika and some chopped peanuts and serve.

Awwwww, sweetness. Thank you for being good to her. Hope she appreciates you.
I hope you are planning some good cooking this Thanksgiving.
I’ll put up my peanut soup recipe but it’ll need to wait until tomorrow morning.
The bags of salad mix I buy only have sweet baby greens or field mix. Never saw one with soy in it?
Thanks for the pings Gypsy! *hugs*
No I have not. I think I changed topics midstream. As in, bags of salad are not enough for vegetarians. However, I would love to warn vegetarians away from soy products. Nuff said. FReegards
Looking forward to that. Thx.
