My wife and I are going to get a Blu-Ray player and I was looking for suggestions on a good (medium priced) player with Netflix streaming capability.
Thanks!

Yes, a Sony Playstation.
It plays Blu-Rays, is sometimes cheaper, and can play cool games, to boot.

My IT guy said one of the best is actually the Sony PS3. I’m still trying to convince the wife on this.

Get the new Play Station 3 for $300.

I figured that out on my own. It was $50 cheaper, too.

PS3. It does netflix wirelessly (a lot of the standalone players don’t offer wireless connectivity).
It’s also very easy to update the PS3 with the latest Blu-ray firmware, which means it will support all the latest features.
The PS3 also does a fantastic job of upconverting regular DVD’s. They will look fantastic.

Although you’re probably aware of this (since you mentioned Netflix), you can get your movies in blu-ray (most of them anyway) for a couple of extra bucks a month.
I don’t even watch “tv” anymore...

I love FR.
Thanks again. I am already leaning to the PS3 - sounds like a good way to get into Blu-Ray..and games. I'm not much of a game player, but since it can be upgraded and is wireless, it sounds like it will be useful for quite a while.
Thanks again everyone!

Get the new PS3 Slim. Add a HDMI compatible receiver and a surround sound system and you’re all set.

Definitely the PS3. Netflix streaming abilities via PS3 was just announced. The PS3 includes WiFi, so you won’t need any extra wires to stream.

by “HDMI compatible receiver” do you mean a HD DVR? We have one of those from our cable company. It works good.

The PS3 plays DVDs and Blu-Ray (and probably audio disks ask well). I've had mine for a couple of years now and been very happy with it. Two suggestions though..
1) Get one of those fan-driven cooling pads to put under it.
2) Get the remote control they make for it - using game controllers to control video replay is awkward.

Upconverting! Another great point I failed to mention.
That and the wireless connection should justify the extra $100 to the wife. ;o)
And if you have kids or grandkids...

The wife is into movies as much as I am. We really like our video collection and look forward to many more hours of happy viewing.
