this happened on facebook...
There were a couple of other typical moonbat shrieks of rage before I was banned from the thread and my comments were erased - typical libs, cutting the mic and sanitising any evidence of opposition.
How can I effectively counter stuff like this while keeping the discussion civil?
Also, to answer the questions of “why was this person on your FB to begin with” - they hadn’t displayed any overt signs of liberalism like this before; so they were previously OK.
You can simply say that you will consider the source of the ranting, raving, and vulgarity.
Looks like a stormy romance. Rush gives the best advice on discussing the issues with liberals - you can’t.
Arguing with an idiot, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Best to just move on.
nice first thread.

There is no discrimination at all. Any man, gay or straight, is free to marry a woman. Any woman, gay or straight, is free to marry a man. That is ABSOLUTELY EQUAL TREATMENT. That's equal rights and equal protection.
A good way to start is to accuse THEM of being intolerant and bigoted and narrow-minded. Then they have to defend their BS. And you remain all “more in sorrow than anger.”
They are typically jackasses and will fall for it every time.
Liberalism is a mental illness. You can’t reason with mentally ill people.
Spend your energy on more productive things.
To be blunt, you can’t.
If you stay calm and corner them with facts, they’ll shriek, scream, get vile, and ban you.
If you try to match their virtiol, they’ll shriek, scream, get vile, and ban you.
In fact, if you don’t agree with them 100%, they’ll shriek, scream, get vile, and ban you.
It’s like trying to teach a pig to sing: Can’t be done, and it annoys the pig.
PS Sometimes annoying the pig is fun, but don’t expect any other result.
Tell them to go sit in the Time Out Chair until they can talk like adults.
Then don’t reply again until they apologize for their childish tantrums.
Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21 is there only hope ...
You come across as calm, rational, respectful and reasonable. The other people in that thread are cussing, personally attacking you, and acting like this is the first time they’ve encountered someone who disagrees with their opinion. I am having trouble understanding why it was YOU who were banned.
I think your hater friend will find that homosexual marriage gets voted down in cases where “the people” are allowed to vote on it, and gets approved in cases where courts and legislators decide.
Democrats typically do not like actual democracy.
Alot of the problems people have would dissappear if the simply turned off facebook, myspace, et al.
Its banned in my house.

You’re asking the impossible here. Lib-freaks will always go straight to personal attacks when they have no logical counter-argument. Notice the vicious name-calling here. Save your energy for more enlightened types. These folks have sunk too deep to save.
I am against homos and it has nothing to do with religion. Homosexuality is a mental disorder. Letting them act out is no different than letting anyone else with any other mental disorder act out.
These two sentences would be a nice parting shot before you go. I agree there comes a point where you have to drop the argument. Clearly these people are everything they accuse Christians of being -- hateful, irrational. It's projection.
But I don't think Christians' and conservatives' first impulse should be to give up the fight and walk away. That's gotten us into a world of trouble over the past twenty years -- that's how libs have taken over so much of society, with little or no opposition. A good argument, even against bitter, anti-Christian loudmouths, is never wasted.
