Australian Idol contestant, Toby Moulton, suddenly dropped out of the competition Sunday. Toby said he wanted to go back to teaching and that he realized show business wasn’t for him.

Toby made it all the way to the Top 5. He dropped out on Top 4 night, before the results from the week before were announced. The host revealed Toby would not have been eliminated.

Pretty crazy stuff. Can you imagine an American Idol contestant making it all the way to the Top 5 and then suddenly dropping out?

God Bless him. Teachers are unsung heros for sure. Yes they are bashed here, but they definitely put themselves before money that is for sure...oh and here is proof. He probably makes 30 thousand a year and had potential to make millions. Teachers are incredible!

No, but I have wished for it.

Well, being a teacher need not stop him from pursuing the music he loves IMHO.

He can be the adviser of the school’s Glee club.

Bumping your post. My father was a teacher and is a very honorable and conservative man.

If a "friend of the producer" of the show went into his dressing room and told him what he'd have to do if he wanted to be in the Top 3...

...he might have realized that there are those who are cut out for the music industry, and there are those who are not. It often has very little to do with how talented you are, and everything to do with how far you'll go to "make it."

Some things are worth alot more than "fame," and among them are self respect, being able to sleep at night, having to look in the mirror when you wake up... the little things, you know?

He's an unusually smart guy. Well done.

Considering how popular these Idol shows are, I’m amazed the Australian and English series aren’t rebroadcast in the USA. They would be very profitable.

Just as long as his teaching isn’t of the socialist/marxist kind or an agenda like the U.S. NEA...then good on him!
