While wine snobs have blighted the earth for thousands of years (you can bet there was at least one guy curling his lip at the vintage of Jesus first and best miracle), beer snobbery is a relatively young art, especially in the U.S.
This is because every beer in the country once tasted exactly the same. Oh sure, there were Bud lovers and MGD aficionados who would swear they could tell the difference, but if you gave them a blind taste test, youd soon discover theyd just keep asking for another test taste until there wasnt any beer left and they were passed out on your sofa.
Furthermore, beer was considered the balm of the common man, it was not something you swirled in a glass and judged by its nose. It was something you swilled from a plastic cup and sometimes shot through your nose.
Then the microbrewery revolution swept the country and soon every abandoned firehouse, bank and shoe factory was outfitted with a vat and turning out every possible form and flavor of beer you could imagine, and some you would rather not.

Ad me to your list -thanks
Not at all...a completely different thing. Guinness is good, but Chimay Blue is intense and complex. I like both of them.
I generally like to drink the beer I brew, though. I haven’t tried brewing a Belgian Ale, though.
I Like Beer bunp.
I believe this is the world's finest brew, better (slightly) than even Warsteiner Dunkel.
CA....
ahhh...Steel Reserve. The Nectar of The Slobs... :)
make mine dogfish 60!
Jameson is my friend.
I have very few rules in life but one I ALWAYA obey is this:
I never drink unless I am alone or with someone.
So, for two bottles of this crap, I could brew 5 gallons of my own home brew.
Now that's a philosophy I can agree with.
Welcome to the most exclusive ping list on FR.

It does not taste at all like guinness, but can be mixed with it to make a “Black and Black”.
I mix it with Steel Reserve or something similar so I don't gag, kinda like a Balack and Tan. True story.

guinness is also a shadow of its former self. I can remember in the early 90s drinking it bottled and bottle-conditioned - the beer was so complex it tasted great warm. i still vividly remember driving to atlanta to buy a bunch of cases, only to get home and find 1) the back label had changed and 2) it tasteed a lot worse (didnt understand the bottle-conditioning change until years later).
the current product has been unrecognizable to me for over a decade. there are much better irish stouts out there, though sourcing can be tricky...
Beer Ping!
A low to medium ping list aimed at all of us who, well, love our beer
FReepmail rzeznikj at stout or GOP_Raider to be added or struck from the list
No Sam Adams I’ve ever tasted was any good, so why would a special glass make it any better??
I homebrew also. Although I havn’t boiled up a batch of wort in over a year.
I found that if I have a particularly nasty tasting batch...let it age for 6 months or more and taste again. You’ll be surprised how much better it is.
