Over the fire I chatted with a neighbor whos working on the Red Dawn remake. Get this: in the new version, China and Russia invade the US to put a stop to our greed. There are times you wish you had a mouthful of kerosene so you could do a flaming spit take. If this is how the film turns out, itll be hilarious; its as if the filmmakers were a bit ambivalent about all the horrible jingoism that such a film might unleash, so they had to temper it with a bit of theoretical altruism that could be true, you know, in a sense. I almost expect the Russians and Chinese to invade to enforce Copenhagen protocols, and the brave Americans fight back for a modified rollout of carbon emission standards that will allow domestic industry to perfect the new HydroWind Energy System, which the Chinese dont want because they just signed a UN agreement to respect patents of other countries.
Fine. You were around then.
I don't agree with you, though.
Oh yeah.
In a remake of ‘The Patriot’ lead actor Sean Penn fights the British who are trying to defend native americans from the evil colonials.
In a remake of ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ a captured group of British prisoners are forced to help the industrial-power of the Japanese to destroy the rainforest. A small group of commandos, led by Ted Danson, foil their plans, thus saving the world of 1942 from global warming.
The Neo-Soviets, Chinese, and Latin American Commies are going to scream and howl and pout when this film comes out.
BTW this is their end goal, to defeat the US.
