Paudeen

INDIGNANT at the fumbling wits, the obscure spite
Of our old paudeen in his shop, I stumbled blind
Among the stones and thorn-trees, under morning light;
Until a curlew cried and in the luminous wind
A curlew answered; and suddenly thereupon I thought
That on the lonely height where all are in God's eye,
There cannot be, confusion of our sound forgot,
A single soul that lacks a sweet crystalline cry.

William Butler Yeats

What A Ride!
The word of the Lord has sounded forth . . . in every place. —1 Thessalonians 1:8

Francis Asbury rode 6,000 miles a year on horseback for nearly half a century. Despite ill health, he drove himself tirelessly. He sustained himself with venison jerky—a food that wouldn’t spoil during his extended travels. Asbury is remembered for introducing the Methodist “circuit-riding preacher” as an effective way to capture the American frontier for Christ. Planting new churches in remote areas was central to his approach.

At the close of Asbury’s ministry, he had recruited over 700 traveling preachers. In 1771, when Asbury arrived in the colonies, there were only about 600 Methodists in America. Forty-five years later, there were 200,000!

In many ways, Asbury’s strategy for planting churches reflects the approach of the apostle Paul. To the church he had planted in Thessalonica, Paul wrote: “From you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place” (1 Thess. 1:8; see Acts 17:1-10).

The days of the “circuit-riding preacher” have come and gone. But each of us has a “frontier” where friends, relatives, and neighbors are our mission field. Can you think of someone today who needs to hear the good news?

Lord, lay some soul upon my heart,
And love that soul through me;
And may I nobly do my part
To win that soul for Thee. —Tucker

Those who love Christ have a love for the lost.

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being
bothered by his little girl, Shelby.. She wanted to
know what the United States looked like. Finally,
he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which
was printed the map of the country. Tearing it into
small pieces, he gave it to Shelby and said, ‘Go
into the other room and see if you can put this
together. This will show you our whole country today..’

After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map,
correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised
and asked how she had finished so quickly.
‘Oh,’ she said,
‘on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus.
When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged,
then our country just came together.’

The picture website was awesome, I like the painter’s reasons and logic for the picture!

The story about the map and the picture of Jesus was a hoot!

You know it ought to tell you something when we take Jesus and morals and faith out of the schools and daily life of children today, and we can only have prayers, over the bodies of the innocent children killed by the immoral lunatics we are raising in schools today.

Time to put faith back into our lives and also time to tell liberals to stay out of our faces, they ‘Offend’ us!

It was the way of Jesus Himself ... He traveled from city to city, village to village, beside of the sea, and lakes, to countryside, giving the message of the 'Kingdom of God', all along the way. When considered thoughtfully it is amazing how many journeys He made during His 3 1/2 years of ministry.

Praise the Lord!

Thanks for the pings, y’all! Enjoyed them all.

just wanted to wish you all a very happy turkey day, where ever you are. :)

The blessings/graphics reminded me of something I wanted to share with y’all—a few days ago, my daughter, MIL, and both grandsons met me for lunch. We got our food, sat down at the table and started eating. Oldest gson(2 1/2) said, “Wait! We have to say the blessing!”

My MIL said the standard “God is great.”

A few more bites, and he looked at me and said, “You say it, Oma.”

We tried to tell him once was enough, but no go.

I asked him, “What do you want me to say? What you usually say?” He nodded. I said, “Blessing, blessing, blessing. Amen.” That satisfied him and we started eating again.

Don’t know if Y’all have heard it or not, but there’s a real popular country song out now—something to the effect of—God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.

He was singing it under his breath. MIL only heard the God is great part and she was complimenting him on how well he had learned to say grace. Daughter and I were about to roll.

Greetings to my finest friends from Key West. Am reflecting back on many years ago when I would sneak out to an internet cafe to "freep". Now everything is wireless. AMAZING! Have already done my b-day parasail, added snorkling this year and bi-plane ride. (things added to my "bucket list") Anyway, kind of bittersweet memories as mom and dad joined us here atleast 3 times plus many early Thanksgiving/birthday memories.

ANYWAY, hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!!!

That reminds me of my Grandmother and watching her clean out a turkey and her teaching me to make an apple pie.
