That is a beautiful graphic, JC - it reminds me of my grandma’s butcher block. It was always full of canned wonders, and fresh picked fruits and vegetables!

you were the first one brave enough to bare your midriff and wear a two piece

And YOU were the one that almost got arrested by the Length Enforcement Officer
For wearing a swim suit an inch too short! LOL!!!

Swimsuits - 1922!
Can you imagine this? The girl on the left
would be a little risque for that time...LOL!
Oh dear, just compare that with today's suits

My mother canned some....but she made a lot of pickles...that seemed to be her thing! I still have the huge crock back in my basement that she soaked them in whatever it was she soaked them in! I never was interested in learning.

The funniest thing though, my oldest son, has so much stuff given to him from gardens, etc. that he learned to can and learned how and he loves to do it. He does pickles, too! I told him he was just like his grandmother! The younger son could care less! They both like to make the jerky though!!

Footbinding used to be the custom in China for a long time. Deformed, tiny feet were considered extremely sexy and a requirement to make a good marriage. It sort of reminds me of our promotion of anorexic models and weird plastic surgery (albeit these are usually not as extreme).

Good afternoon, Polly. Thank you.

I'm with you .... I love fall.
Usually beautiful weather and warm fall colors.
I don't like our winters, too much fog!

Jaycee, Those preserves are so pretty!
Last year I purchased boxes of Mason jars and canned. I canned applesauce and applebutter from apples off of our daughter's tree. I want to develop that art!

My mother canned a lot, as did my grandma.
I did quite a bit too, but mostly jams, jellies and preserves.
Today, we would all find ourselves hungry in the winter, wouldn't we?

Hi, Jane! I was just reading about the Chinese foot binding. What a horrible thing to do - torturing little girls like that!

And, yes, it makes me want to run for a snack, too - especially that last picture - of all the veggies and dip. I have been off all animal fat for eight days, now, and am beginning to LOVE vegetables and fruits~! (And have already lost six pounds!)

Good afternoon, Billie. Thank you.

I've missed you the past couple of days.
Hope you were away for a fun reason. :^)

Seems that I have been here hit and miss recently.
I really should work on getting organized. LOL
Why spoil the fun?

Hope you are having a Terrific Thursday!
