Good Morning

Soft the voices that lift in praise,
and softer still the spirit we raise.
We humble ourselves before the King,
who set His words before us to ring.

We ask for others His grace and love,
treasuring the preciousness of the Dove.
We know we need His forgiveness true,
for such as we, all His children may do.

This day we hold His alone, most properly,
render homage to Him as is right you see.
Like children do we owe Him honor bound,
forever in awe of His love for us found.

Thank you for sharing your lovely Lords Day poem, Johnn.
Wishing you a blessed Sunday

Pleasing God
We make it our aim . . . to be well pleasing to Him. —2 Corinthians 5:9

Andy Warhol, the pop-art painter of such American images as the Campbell’s soup can, once said, “In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.” But he was wrong. There are millions of people who will never grab their moment in the spotlight. Some of them are the men and women who spend their lives doing things like working hard, raising godly children, faithfully praying for others, sharing their faith with those who don’t yet know Jesus. They teach Sunday school, bring meals to the sick, drive senior citizens to doctors’ appointments, and do countless other kindnesses.

These people may never be recognized outside their circle of family and friends. Certainly, their names aren’t well known. And although they willingly, and often sacrificially, give of themselves, they may not receive a whole lot of thanks or praise for their service. Yet God knows of their faithfulness and is pleased by their obedience.

Second Corinthians 5:9 teaches us to “make it our aim . . . to be well pleasing” to God. As we, by faith, believe in Him and give our lives in service to Him, He is pleased (Heb. 11:6). That’s our reward, because God’s approval is always sweeter than the applause of the crowd.

Look not to the people around you,
Nor wait for their laurels of praise;
Enough that the Savior has found you
And calls you to serve all your days. —Hess

The deeds God finds pleasing are those done in service for Him.

Oh my gosh, that’s one gorgeous kitty!

Did anyone see the (self-recognized) “Crazy Cat Lady” segment on 20-20 the other night? I never watch ABC, but my mom kept emailing me to tell me to turn it on.... OK, I’m not AS bad as the gals they profiled.... :0) Hubby cut me off......

Good Morning Meg and All... A Blessed Sunday to you.

Yesterday was so busy I had little time for hanging around Amy's Place.

Our oldest daughter treated me to a Holiday Brunch at her church, along with a Boutique. In the late afternoon I went with her to visit our granddaughter that was placed in a Group Home on Friday. Such mixed feelings and of course I could not hold back tears. I will be making arrangement to bring her home on some weekends and going often to visit !!

This home has six adult women 18-30 , all disabled with autism. One girl about 20 greeted me and wanted me to come see her room. When walking into the room she said " my mama and grandma live in --------". I said " Oh that is nice, because that is real close". With a sad face she said " they don't visit." I assured her I would visit and often and I would visit her too!!

God has a new mission for me. I can feel it!

Today we will stay in from church. I have developed a sore throat.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart feel lonely?
And long for heaven and home

When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches over me
His eye is on the sparrow
and I know He over watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
and I know He watches me

I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches
I know He watches me

May the Lord Bless you, Polly, through your sad days. My tears welled up for you, dear. God will take care of everything in His own time. So sorry you’ve taken the sore throat...I had that recently with a little fever and the doctor gave me Tamiflu as a precaution.
