U.S. Stops Short of Linking Chinese Drywall to Health Problems

WASHINGTON -- Federal product-safety regulators stopped short of linking Chinese-made drywall to health problems and metal corrosion, according to people familiar with results of an investigation scheduled to be released later Thursday.

The regulators have determined that sulfur gases emit from Chinese drywall at a higher rate than non-Chinese product, according to the results. But the officials said they need to conduct more studies to determine any connection to health problems or damages.

Federal regulators are expected to caution that the results are early stage and could change. Later Thursday they are to release results from three studies of the drywall investigation, including an indoor air test of 10 homes in Florida and Louisiana. Next month the results of a 50-home indoor-air-testing study will be released.

Moisture corrodes steel and causes dried edibles to rot. Oxygen and sunlight cause rancidity. Imagine what these things will do to your lungs.

The FDA tried to cover up the poisoned dog food business, too. If a group of veterinarians hadn’t broken cover and come out with the story, we probably never would have been told about it. Or about any of those other poisoned products.

It’s not just the T-bills. It’s also all those big importers who pay off the politicians.

Dry wall is gypsum SULFATE

All drywall contains sulfur, in fact is sulfur. The unmentioned but all important question. Did the material meet ANSI and or ASTM standards? If yes, no foul. If no then what did the project specifications section 9 require? Did the drywall contractor comply? If yes, no foul.

or some of that made from synthetic (FGD) gypsum...

My bad - I threw in sunlight at the last minute, when I should have mentioned it in reference to its non-harmful effects (in moderate amounts) on skin.

Sulfate is not sulfur. Sulfate is fully oxidized sulfur, S⁶⁺, and it's stable. The junk board sent over by the Chicoms is emitting sulfide, reduced sulfur(S^2-) as the gas H₂S. That gas is a neurotoxin and corrodes metals. It was probably generated by sulfate reducing bacteria when the Ca SO₄ was stored wet over there and on the way over. This junk board also seems to contain sulfides as a part of the matrix. That's uncommmon.

Obviously the pockets of the Chinese drywall manufacturers are not as deep as, say, the paint manufacturers in the good old USA! (Billions of dollars bilked from THAT industry over bogus data about kids eating paint chips off of their walls...)

When I was a kid, we spread mustard on asbestos shingles and ate them and WE LIKED IT! (LOL!)

Entire subdivisions in my area have gone bankrupt in my area due to Chinese drywall. Million-dollar McMansions are sitting empty in Country-Club gated communities, and some of my own little students have gotten very sick from this stuff. I don’t blame the homebuyers, as they don’t strip off the paint and wallpaper to see if the drywall was “MADE IN CHINA”. It was the developer who originally purchased this stuff. I am sure there are plenty of AMERICAN drywall companies. This disgusts me!
