Obnoxious New York fans vs. obnoxious Philly fans. Sounds about even.

But the Yankees will still find a way to blow it!

Any who thinks that Philadelphia is an ‘underdog’ against New York in this battle, does not have a clue of what this Phillies team is about~!

Check out the New York Post cover showing Shane Victorino in a skirt! with the cover, Gotham Shivers, the Frillies are coming to town. Hmm, don't the “Frillies” own the Mets???!!!

Cm on yous Stankees! You don't scare us! This ain't no 1952 Wizz Kidd fluke. Your taking on the 2008 Champs and you will find that our ENTIRE STARTING LINEUP can hit the ball out. Oh did I mention Matt Stairs will be the Phillies DH in NY? I hope your upper deckers in the outfield have their glove on. They're going to be catching a few!!

I’m rooting for anybody who is beating the Yankees.
Go Mariners... next year.

My favorite from the NY Post today was: Philadelphia's most famous athlete is Rocky ... who doesn't even EXIST!

Otherwise, what the heck .. roll with it fellas, it's the World Series, gonna be a good one :)

GO YANKEES!!!

Obnoxious New York fans vs. obnoxious Philly fans.

What's interesting about this WS matchup is that Mets fans are in a complete conundrum ... they have no clue which team to root for, or if they should even watch the WS at all ... /laughs

I know, been in that same situation m'self in 1986 when the Mets played the Red Sox ... who do you root for? Your longtime division rivals, or your crosstown rivals?

Otherwise, for me its easy this time:

GO YANKEES !!!

Or Bobby Clarke or Mike Schmidt ... two fairly famous Philly athletes ...

Like I say, let the barbs fly, its all in good fun and nothing personal ... Yankees vs. Phillies ... gonna be a good one :)

You would have at least thought they heard of Earl the Pearl.

This ain't no 1952 Wizz Kidd fluke.

Maybe that's because the Whiz Kids won the pennant in 1950.

P.S. If the Phillies can find a way, any way, to pry runs out of CC Sabathia in Game One, they'll have a splendid chance to win the Series. Maybe not in five games, but beat Sabathia and you've got a big chance.

You think you had problems? How'd you like to have been a Met fan since the day they were born and a Red Sox fan since the 1967 pennant race?

I singlehandedly sank Omaha, Nebraska's (I was there while serving in the Air Force) pharmaceutical inventory during that World Series . . .

This is really a great match up, lots of bombers on both teams, stadiums where the ball flies out of the park and no lead is safe.

This has the potential to be one of the all-time great World Series.

Will A-Rod continue his hot streak? If he starts out 0 for 7 or 0 for 8 he’ll start gripping that bat so hard and lunging for pitches again so bad it won’t be funny. I hope for his sake he stays hot. He won’t earn those pinstripes until the Yanks win a Series with him.

The Phillies and their lefties hitting in Yankee Stadium, the inaugural year at New Yankee Stadium. The natural alliances in NY are Giants/Yankees, and Giant fans hate the Eagles and likewise. The Giants are playing the Eagles Sunday too. The fans are going to be going crazy at these games.

I’m a Met fan first but I’ll be rooting for the Yankees.

I sure hope so because the last 5 World Series have been big busts as far as competitive excitement is concerned:

2008 - Philadelphia Phillies over Tampa Bay Rays 4 games to 1
2007 - Boston Red Sox over Colorado Rockies 4 games to 0
2006 - St. Louis Cardinals over Detroit Tigers 4 games to 1
2005 - Chicago White Sox over Houston Astros 4 games to 0
2004 - Boston Red Sox over St. Louis Cardinals 4 games to 0

Your right it was 1950. My bad. And CC Sabathia has never been a problem for the Phillies. They took care of him nicely in the 2008 NLDS against the Brewers. The Phillies also get most of their runs via the long ball. Charlie Manuel built this team to on good pitching an reliable bull pen and sluggers throughout the line up. This has been a very good recipe for success against the American League. I don't know what their inter-league record was this year but I know that beating their best was what he had in mind.

While I'm not a fan of either of these teams, I think it is so cool that they are so close to each other so fans can get to all of the games if they want to.

Good luck to all of you fans on either side
