Churchill’s request here for special-built anti-aircraft “tortoise” ships sounds odd to me. Did anything ever come of it? I’m thinking it probably was not realistic, and there must have been a certain amount of muttering about all the stuff that “crazy old man” kept asking for. ;-)
It occurs to me that the world was just not prepared for this war. If the Germans had waited another year to start their territorial acquisitions they might have had such a huge advantage they could have rolled all the way to Moscow and the Ukraine.
Assuming the world didn’t catch on.
