As an eternal fan of my beloved Atlanta Falcons who always found ways to lose and who drafted then traded* Bret Favre after his bench-warming rookie season, claiming that he "didn't fit our system" which was accurate, "our system" being carefully crafted to ensure just enough wins to avoid the dreaded grocery bag headgear made fashionable by Saint fans during seasons more forgettable than the current one, I cannot bring myself to pull for the Saints, bitter rivals that they are.

However, I will hope that the good and gentle folk of New Orleans and Louisiana are happy after the Super Bowl, they being among the best our nation has to offer (except for that deputy sheriff in St Landry Parish).

Good luck. I think that it may be necessary. :>)

* In exchange for Favre, my shrewd Falcons received Green Bay's pick (#19) in the first round of the 1992 NFL draft. We chose running back Tony Smith, Favre's former teammate at Southern Mississippi. Smith was with the Falcons for 3 years, his only three years in the league.

FOFLOL. I hear that!

Those fashionable brown bags weren't just plain old sacks, I'll have you know. :) They were personalized, the favorite said, The Aints.. Oh, sure, a few said, Have we lost yet? but they were rare. LOL The lowest point in the paper bag year, we helped make Joe Montana's star begin to shine. We were up 35 to 7 at the half and still managed to lose. LOL

Of those bad ole days, this tale is perhaps my favorite. It is repeated as a true story. Once, in the 70s-early 80s, when our beloved Archie was the quarterback, things in the organization were so tumultous, everyone and everything so transitory that in one game, right before the snap, Archie looked down the line of scrimmage and actually saw a wide receiver that he didn’t recognize. The guy introduced himself in the huddle. LOL

That’s because you’d have two capped knees if you tried.
No more schussing for you! :P

Didn’t I warn you to put a pillow in your pants? If you got a boo-boo on your tushie, you have only yourself to blame! :)

You're describing your feelings to yourself after your team's loss on Sunday right?

I only get emotional when the Broncos play. Other than that, I almost always go for the underdog. I’m such a nice guy! :)

Argue? Heavens no. Silly Sharky. That was no argument. It was merely two people expressing their opinions about a game.

Good stories, Darlin’. As for the Super Bowl, it is nice for N.O. and LA that regardless of the outcome, fans there will have either Peyton Manning or the Saints to feel good about.

Thats right. Peyton is homegrown. :)

Although, the most popular, most sought after interview in Miami probably won't be with Peyton or Drew. Archie's comments will be the "get" of the weekend. LOL Naturally, he will be gracious, self-deprecating and charming.

The game happens to fall on the same day as the first of the Mardi Gras parades begin to roll in N.O. So, it will be a toss up as to where the the biggest party will happen.

Actually, I should have said, that while we have adopted Archie and the entire Manning family as our own we really have to share he, Olivia and Cooper with Mississippi. :) Peyton, OTOH, is a homegrown New Orleanean. As is Eli.

Okay, you can stop your head-bashing now, Lame. :P

Hey, differing opinions are what makes the world an interesting place, right? :)

Anything to take my mind off the State of the Union address.

Anybody gonna watch? Not sure if I will or not. Depends on how many barf bags I have handy.

I never watch this guys speeches.

Here's a recap:

1. I, I, I inherited this HUUUUGE mess. (not my fault)
2. It's Bush's fault.
3. I, I, I am fiscally responsible. (pay no attention that I'm freezing spending 50% higher than what I, I, I inherited)
4. I, I, I am fighting for you! (unions of America!)
5. I, I, I will stop Globull warming! (it caused the cold weather)
6. I, I, I will give you x, y, z, free. Free. (pay no attention to that man in your pocket)
7. I, I, I give a great speech, so I, I, I am going to torture speak with you for a whole extra hour!

I know it’s sheer torture to listen to his speeches, but I’d like to count how many lies he can tell with a straight face.

On the other hand, I’d probably just lose track anyway.

I'll read a little about it late tonight.

Then listen to Rush break it down tomorrow (need the humor).

Hint: Want to count the lies? How many times will his lips move.......

I've read a little about the Oregon vote yesterday. You all are crazier than loons, voting for that in the middle of a recession (or any time for that matter). Do they think that the tooth fairy brings them jobs?

Hint: Tell your kids to move ASAP, they'll never find a job there outside of government, and since they're not dems, they can forget that too.
