Oracle CEO Larry Ellison commissioned the fabricators at Kirkham Motorsports to build the ultimate, cost-is-no-object roadster. After years of labor, they've completed the all-billet aluminum Cobra. Click "more" to see them build one of the most spectacular custom cars ever.

I wonder if Carrol Shelby has seen this.
copper, could be nice
I would have anodized the body blue and the undercarriage purple. Maybe Larwhie didn’t have money left over for the dip treatment.
OK , it’s beautiful ... but what does it weigh? And does Larry Ellison have the skill to lap faster in this than I could in a rented Sentra?
Saw this and thought you might find it interesting. Hope all is well with you and yours...

Mamel..., I was poking at the ridiculousness of the ‘billet’ (and ‘aircraft’) thing. I hope you were too. I enjoy your posts! If you like, I can FRmail a ‘certificate of authenticity’ for this exchange.
The front looks like a fish with wide open mouth.
I agree that Ellison is a pr*ck. During the early Oracle days, he was ticketed by a cop for speeding (he was driving his Porsche.) He sped to the front of Oracle headquarters, got out of his car, and told the cops, “talk to my attorney.” Our corporate attorney headed down in a matter of minutes and got the ticket from the cop.
Also, his when his first book came out, the first page said, “What does God say every morning in front of the mirror?” Answer: “I wish I was Larry Ellison!”
I’m curious as to what that would look like.
It’s not pretty.
The exchange or the certification of? And what exchange are we discussing anyway?
Nunumz wud prity.
I am siging off.. Take care friend.
I thought I was going to be the first one to say it’s ugly.
Nonono no.
The entire car...there are no bolts or even motor mounts...one continuous piece.
It must have been quite a feat cutting the clearances between the "bearing surfaces" of the rods, mains and the crank all done inside the block with no bolt-on bearing caps.
I'm just not too confident how well an aluminum crank and transmission gears would hold up.
Wow! That’s one hell of a Cobra. Thanks for the link!
Probably just fine...
since aluminum sparkplugs with aluminum insulators and aluminum wiring with aluminum insulation, aluminum distributor cap, and alternator, coil, and voltage regulators all made from aluminum....probably not gonna be a whole lotta horsepower being generated.
In fact, I doubt the all-aluminum starter motor could even turn it over a single time...esecially if it’s powered by an all aluminum battery.
Those aluminum seats could be a tad uncomfortable...cold too.
I’m still laughing about the aluminum plug wires.
