LOS ANGELES The songwriter who wrote the catchy theme songs to "The Addams Family" and "Green Acres" television shows has died. Vic Mizzy was 93.
..........................................
Mizzy has said that he didn't mind if people only remember him for the finger snaps at the start of the "The Addams Family" theme song. After all, he said "two snaps got me a mansion in Bel Air."

This death is all together spooky.
I will watch some of my Green Acres DVDs in Vic’s honour.
"Green Acres" is on DVD?!
naaaah, I'll let that one pass....
Green Acers theme was a masterpiece.... I was born to late catch the Addams Family theme fever. And when the Addams Family did finally make it to cable, The “monsters living next door” thingy was not that funny.
I bet you’re waiting for it to debut on Blu-ray, aren’t you?
Goys, darkies, they all look green from here.
I like his attitude. God Bless and keep the old songwriter. Because even He could use some humor in the Mel Brooks genre.

Had a pretty good run.
Rest in peace, Vic!
"Letting it pass" meant that I was going to pass up the opportunity to make a joke....
The house shown at the beginning of the intro was the Ebeneezer Maxwell Mansion in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. In my early life I lived down the street from it.
I thought “Addams Family” was romantic:
“’Tish! You spoke French!” (Grabs her arm, starts planting kisses from her wrist to her shoulder)
“Gomez! The children are upstairs!”
Carolyn Jones died tragically at age 53. Such a loss.
Thank you for that detail - I never knew it, and I am a great fan of the Addams Family. True gothic humour ... exquisite.
Thanks, one of my favorite shows when I was a kid.
Mine too. We’re freakin’ weird.
Did you know that Carolyn Jones was married to Aaron Spelling and it was told that she was the love of his life.
Their house is a museum
when people come to seeum
they really are a screeum
same here....I will stick with my entire run of ‘Route 66’ and ‘Sea Hunt’ DVD’s. great stuff!
Mizzy did various themes other then “Green Acres” and the “Addams Family”. They each had in common telling the “story” of the series.
I have mp3s of Red Buttons singing the theme to his show “Double Life of Henry Phyfe” and the theme to “Captain Nice”. Here is all I can find on youtube.
