My SIL has an early(er) production Armalite and has had a few fit problems with other uppers. It's my understanding that they have fixed all that, and that now all is well. The thing I really like about the -15 platform is the option to swap out stuff. I can go from a PD carbine to varmint killer in seconds.

We've got a couple here that we noticed had better triggers. I checked with my buddy where we bought them and he pointed out something that's not "generally" known. At least I didn't know this! But he said that the lowers in those two rifles had National Match triggers but to make them "truly" National Match, all we had to do was swap the springs. :-)
My daughter has Armalite's SPR and it shoots particularly well! She outshot me last time out (I had a carbine) with a group at just under an inch at "about" 100 yards. :-)

You can get a cheaper Saiga .223 that will shoot less expensive steel case ammo.

I just got one NIB for $350.00, any decent AR costs 3-4 times that.

We stopped by our local yesterday and my buddy there showed me what he called an "entry level" DPMS AR-15 carbine. It was ALL flat topped (NO sights!), and had a collapsible stock, but no forward assist. That would be the "Sportical", a cross between a sporter and a tactical. I liked mine with the EOTECH and folding Yankee Machine co-witness sights, until it got tipped out of my buddies boat a while ago. I got the EBR for $600. Can't get another for that.

How come no one’s talking about Tom bringing up the fact that last Wednesday the Obama administration was thinking about talks with the UN to come up with a treaty prohibiting gun ownership in the US, doing an end run around the 2nd Amendment?

I have a colt preban A2 I bought in 80’s for 400 bucks. Picked up a stagg arms 15 this year, pretty nice but not a colt either; functionaly about the same.
Got a Mark V 30-378 couple weeks back; now that is a sweet caliber for hunting.

UN has been trying to push that stuff for a long time. Of course 0bummer is the one that would be likely to try it. Any treaty is going to have to be passed by the Senate, right? They seem to have their hands full at the moment.
