We stopped by our local yesterday and my buddy there showed me what he called an "entry level" DPMS AR-15 carbine. It was ALL flat topped (NO sights!), and had a collapsible stock, but no forward assist. That would be the "Sportical", a cross between a sporter and a tactical. I liked mine with the EOTECH and folding Yankee Machine co-witness sights, until it got tipped out of my buddies boat a while ago. I got the EBR for $600. Can't get another for that.

Out of the boat?! Say it isn't so! ...sheesh... I cringe to hear that!
I'm going to recommend it to my friend...the "Sportical" that is. I've only EVER used a forward assist TWICE, and that was on a crappy A-1 model that was issued to me when I was active duty, so I can't say I'd miss it! It did look a little "bare" without it though.
Did the boat tip over or what?
