The Larimer County Sheriff says criminal charges are likely expected to be filed against Richard Heene.
Heene is the Fort Collins man who reported his 6-year-old son missing in a helium-filled balloon on Thursday.
The sheriff did not give specific charges, but said they would likely be a class 3 misdemeanor, which could be false reporting.
The sheriff's office is working on getting a search warrant to search the Heene home and is planning a news conference Sunday at 11 a.m.
Richard Heene and his wife Mayumi were interviewed by investigators Saturday.

Looks like the Sheriff had some problems with Heene’s answers to a few basic questions. Hence the charges.
the one with no link, no source or story?
Like you said, it's amazing how many people think they know everything.
What the...? Weirdos from Boulder with nothing better to do?
They had me fooled - until the kid let the truth slip on CNN followed by the poor kid throwing up on camera during the Today show. He’s got as sick twisted mommy and daddy.
What about for emotionally abusing a helpless little boy??
I got a clue about these parents when the little boy was puking and they sent him to the bath room, no adult seemed to want to go with him (off camera) until the reporter suggested it to the mother.
Balloon boy: Falcon Heene’s father called TV station before police
Richard Heene called a TV news station that had a helicopter before contacting emergency services after his six-year-old son Falcon “drifted off” in a balloon.

Obstruction of justice - probable felony
I hate to see a good man go down because he’s got a screw loose or three, but in my totally unprofessional opinion, this guy needs some sort of counseling and treatment.
Shock therapy or something!
The sheriff office interviewed the family this afternoon.
Boy, that interview must have gone badly if they are talking about charging them.
If I were that crazy dad, I would “lawyer up” about now.
Did you see the liftoff video?
of course they knew noone was in there.
IN 6 months and 1 day, he’ll probably have his own show.
I know, somebody already told you.
Let's just sit back and wait for the onslaught of duplicates.
MUST SEE TV, there, lol.
“I’ve been getting a lot of emails and questions, and I don’t know how to answer them - BUT I HAVE THIS BOX!!!........
His reality show contract will have to pay for all the expenses he incurred.
Is this a trial balloon for the balloon trial to be carried over the air?
