The bodies of thousands of rabbits culled every year from the parks in Stockholms Kungsholmen neighbourhood are being used to fuel a heating plant in central Sweden.
The decision to use Stockholms rabbit cadavers as bioenergy to warm Swedes living in Värmland doesn't sit well with Stockholm-based animal rights activists.
Those who support the culling of rabbits surely think its good to use the bodies for a good cause. But it feels like theyre trying to turn the animals into an industry rather than look at the main problem, Anna Johannesson of Vilda kaniners värn (Society for the Protection of Wild Rabbits) told the local Vårt Kungsholmen newspaper.
Every year, the city of Stockholm kills off thousands of rabbits in an effort to protect trees and shrubbery in the citys extensive network of parks and green space.
According to Tommy Tuvunger with the Stockholm Traffic Office, the agency responsible for controlling the citys rodent and wild animal population, part of the problem rests with delinquent pet owners who decide to release their rabbits into the citys parks.

New York City may have an inexhaustible energy supply if they elected to do this with their rat population.
Oh no! PETA won't say anything about THIS. The Swedes are VERY LIBERAL. They'll wink at it.
I wonder ... are we ready yet for Soylent Green when Obamacare sets in?
Soylent Green (1973)
In the year 2022, New York—and the world—is a mess, thanks to overpopulation, pollution and modern-day savagery. The government has a miracle food that will cure all of society's ills, but police detective Charlton Heston is out to learn its shocking secret.

People ARE beginning to ACT LIKE THIS on the trailer.
Just go to where the “Obama money” is being handed out and see it for yourself. I'm not kidding you. I am as sincere as a heart attack. Think of it this way, Obamacare will lead to neglecting certain people to death. What do we do with all those dead bodies piling up? Why "recycle" them. Turn them into food. After all with rationed care and this will help cure the "over population problem" and "reclying" dead bodies will help us "save the earth" and care for our environment. Sick but LIBERALS are SICK PEOPLE and this would be right up their alley to pull this on people.
Biofuel is people!!!!!
hot chicks with guns... i like it
Is it winter? I thought the article said they shot the bunnies in Fall. Fall generally is not accompanied by temperatures cold enough to keep a bunny frozen 24/7. The article is reflective. Perhaps Fall started in August in Sweden but it certainly isn’t the dead of winter there yet.
- Is there still, in 2009, a huge rat problem in NYC?
Over here in Sweden, no one would agree to live in a house, stay at a hotel or dine at a restaurant full of pesticides.
Of course, Sweden doesn't have a perfect climate for such creatures of Satan, but neither does NYC. IMO, something’s dead wrong about the attitude towards these plagues in many other “developed” countries.
In the UK, for instance, even nicer hotels don't bother much about letting their guests share rooms with cockroaches.
Upon pointing out to a waiter at a rather fancy restaurant in Cologne, Germany that there were mice running around on their floors, my father and I were met with a pair of shrugged shoulders (but the food and beer/kölsch was really good though).
I know a little bit about the hotel/restaurant business. The working day starts with cleaning your hands and it ends with cleaning the whole place before the next day.
How hard could it be?
There are approximately 8-9 Million rats in New York City, with a human population of 8.3 Million people. They do occasionally use pesticides in subways and parks, but most rodents are smart enough to hide in walls, especially in the winter. Even the best restaurants have problems with rats.
I can promise you that at least 25-50K are registered Democrats.
“There are approximately 8-9 Million rats in New York City, with a human population of 8.3 Million people.”
- I haven’t been to NYC myself, but alongside the praise of everything the Big Apple has to offer in terms of entertainment, restaurants, cultural experience etc, expressed by fellow Scandinavians, I often hear tales of pesticides.
I’m not wishing to disrespect Americans, but if I’m not mistaken, a comparable city like Tokyo suffers much less from rats and insects than NYC, despite having more of an ideal climate*.
