Somebody contact Rush and see if he wants in on this argument...
ACtually, Campbell is the one who made his race an issue. Last year — when he was as lousy then as he is now — he said he was trying to improve his performance by “talking with other black quarterbacks in the league.” Can you imagine what would have happened to a Flacco, Romo, or any other young white quarterback if he said he was only talking with other white quarterbacks in the league?
You hear constant calls for the veteran back up Collins to play. My observation is Deadskins fans are unleashing their frustration on Snyder.
First, I am a huge Jason Campbell fan. Secondly, I don’t think it has to do with his race.
As Rush would tell you, “The media wants to see a black quarterback succeed and they’ll lie about the statistics to make it so.”
I don’t know where you’re listening to football commentary, in the places I listen to and read about the best anybody says about Campbell is he doesn’t stink as bad as Russell.
With Romo he is the QB of the Cowboys so he will get lots of media attention. Also he has done major choke jobs in playoffs or with a spot in the playoffs on the line. Romo does bring attention to himself with his choice of gf’s especially taking the well publicized trip to Mexico during the playoff season.
At least he can complete more than 2 passes in a game.
They have an excellent D but their play strategy stinks, and it all starts with Zorn. He is not ready for prime time.
Fire Zorn and replace Campbell whether he's black or white. The defense deserves an offense of equal skill.
Is that a rhetorical question? All of us in the DC Metro area know that any criticism of Campbell isn’t PC. Campbell has all the physical tools, but he is not an NFL first team QB. He is indecisive and does not get the ball off fast enough. He also has a hard time reading defenses and making good audibles.
COLT!!!COLT!!!!
You’re playing the race card.
Ummmm.....Tony Romo is Hispanic.
So I guess it's ok to be racist when it's a Mexican QB.
Why is the grammar wrong in so many of our post titles?
Rush was right about Donovan McNabb at the time. Philly football was killed by all the racialistism for many years as no black QB could ever officially underperform to the Philly Sports Press — which is the nation’s MOST influential sports press on account of ESPN and Comcast.
It’s not NcNabb that makes the best case for that — it’s the whole Randall Cunningham -> Donovan McNabb -> Micheal Vick thang. Philadelphia is where black athletes come to be praised beyond any actual ability.
I’m sorry to say, but Rush was right...and you are correct.
He was 3-of-19 before leading his one good drive of the season, scoring a TD at the end to beat the lowly Chiefs. He's completed 42% of his passes. Big Ben has completed 73%. Most good QBs hover around 60-62%
He has 8 turnovers and 1 TD. Most QB's try for a 2-to-1 ratio of scores to turnovers.
His 5.0 yards per attempt are in the bottom 3 in the NFL.
Now, most black QB's get a break on their stats, because they add some great rushing stats... but oddly enough, JaMarcus has a grand total of 30 yds this season, with 15 of those coming on one run.
Were it not for Derek Anderson having a horrific season, JaMarcus would be, by far, the worst NFL QB.
Jason Campbell is a good quarterback.
The problem is that there are a lot of great quarterbacks around. There is a good case to be made that we are currently enjoying the Golden Age of the Quarterback in the NFL:
Peyton Manning
Drew Brees
Brett Favre
Tom Brady
Jay Cutler
Ben Roethlisberger
Eli Manning
Aaron Rodgers
Philip Rivers
Donovan McNabb
Joe Flacco
Matt Ryan
Carson Palmer
Kurt Warner
plus up and comers like Mark Sanchez.
Campbell is a fairly good quarterback, but a lot of teams now are benefitting from having an excellent quarterback.
Snyder would have been better served by spending his money on Jay Cutler rather than Albert Haynesworth.
