...The original White House memo and not surprisingly the Task Force report contains multiple references to developing a national policy where Great Lakes and coastal regions are managed, consistent with international law, including customary international law as reflected in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea - a 300-page treaty the U.S. has never ratified...

anything with the UN is bad
Needs to be renamed Foreign Nations Association and moved to maybe Africa, EU or Middle East.
Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime
How can they control people in they feed themselves.
“Teach a man to fish, and all he’ll do is sit in his boat drinking beer!”
“The report makes it clear that future authority for implementing the policy for coastal and INLAND waters will fall under White House jurisdiction with a new National Ocean Council comprised of over 20 federal agencies at Cabinet Secretary or Deputy Secretary level..... People who simply want to take their kids fishing on public waters deserve better from their government, he added.”
We ALL deserve better. Not sure why they would stop at the Great Lakes. How about Lake Mille Lacs? Or Round Lake? (Doesn’t everyone have at least two Round Lakes near them?)
I posted this a few days ago. Thanks for posting it again, as hopefully it will get some more attention this time.

And no, it will not be limited to the Great Lakes.
practice “filet & release”
We have a Great Lakes czar now here in Michigan, and I’m not sure what his role is supposd to be. I’m concerned for our lakes, our farmland, too.
My exact thoughts. ;>)
Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime............................ Nahhhh. Teach a man to fish and he will buy 20 rods and reels, a boat, 200 lures, waders, rain gear, a cooler, bait bucket, throw net, landing net, trolling motor, 200HP outboard, GPS/fishfinder, ship to shore radio. etc. etc. etc. He will end up paying $5000.00 a lb for a fish.
Thanks for the heads up. Some good comments on your thread too. I agree with others that it’s just another vehicle for federal control over everyone and everything.
A great lakes czar? Figures. I wonder who his “fishing czar” will be? Probably Bill Clinton, as he knows all about “throwing the young ones back.”
ROFL. True, and then you have the Bear Grilz way of tying a safety pin to a shoestring, with a fly as bait, which is pretty cheap. :-)
LOL! Apparently the GL czar is an environmentalist named Cameron Davis from Chicago. Fishing Czar has not yet been named. :)
OK everbody, don’t buy any fishing or hunting licsens in 2010. Listen for the various states moan about how much ‘’revenue’’ they are out as a result.
PETA has been working on outlawing all fishing for years[over 20 that I know about]. Now, thanks to the traitors and American haters, they have their man in the WhiteHouse and a good chance to accomplish what they started.
Obama just keeps finding more and more ways to piss off huge segments of the population. Pretty soon, owning an aquarium will be illegal, because it’s cruel to prevent little fishes from being free and getting eaten by bigger, meaner fishes.
we need to start using the constitution instead of international law...maybe we should mail them a copy.
Or at the least just reminding them of the Tenth Amendment:
