I have no doubts that the Chicago Olympics would have been as much a propaganda effort as the Beijing or Berlin Olympics. Look at Denver 2008.

Adolf Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1939 by Erik Brandt, a member of the Swedish Parliament. He DID retract the nomination a few days later.

The Olympics went on.
