USAToday has an article today about Sheriff Joe in Arizona being told by DHS to stop looking for illegals. Also, I posted this story yesterday about the illegals detention facility in Texas being emptied a couple of weeks ago, and illegals transferred into unguarded hotel facilities with free food, and medical care.
Something like this happened with Governor Perry when he tried to enact Operation Linebacker which would have put the National Guard on the Texas border and give them the authority to arrest illegals. DHS stopped him and said it was not the State’s jurisdiction. (of course, Gov Perry is blamed for not doing anything because of this..)
Amnesty legislation is currently being drafted according to Obozo at his Mexico press conference in August, and the bills will be unleashed against America in 2010.
“I would anticipate that before the year is out we will have draft legislation along with sponsors ... when we come back next year, that we should be in a position to start acting.”

Following is a transcript of the news conference held on Monday by President Obama, President Felipe Calderón of Mexico, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada in Guadalajara, Mexico, as released by the White House.

Now, I’ve got a lot on my plate, and it’s very important for us to sequence these big initiatives in a way where they don’t all just crash at the same time. And what we’ve said is in the fall when we come back, we’re going to complete health care reform. We still have to act on energy legislation that has passed the House, but the Senate, I’m sure, is going to have its own ideas about how it wants to approach it. We still have financial regulatory reform that has to get done because we don’t want a situation in which irresponsible actions in the global financial markets can precipitate another crisis. That’s a pretty big stack of bills.
Fortunately, what we’ve been able to do is to begin meeting with both Democrats and Republicans from the House and the Senate. Secretary Napolitano is coordinating these discussions, and I would anticipate that before the year is out we will have draft legislation along with sponsors potentially in the House and the Senate who are ready to move this forward, and when we come back next year, that we should be in a position to start acting.
Now, am I going to be able to snap my fingers and get this done? No. This is going to be difficult; it’s going to require bipartisan cooperation. There are going to be demagogues out there who try to suggest that any form of pathway for legalization for those who are already in the United States is unacceptable. And those are fights that I’d have to have if my poll numbers are at 70 or if my poll numbers are at 40. That’s just the nature of the U.S. immigration debate.
But ultimately, I think the American people want fairness. And we can create a system in which you have strong border security, we have an orderly process for people to come in, but we’re also giving an opportunity for those who are already in the United States to be able to achieve a pathway to citizenship so that they don’t have to live in the shadows, and their children and their grandchildren can have a full participation in the United States. So I’m confident we can get it done.
Catch is that Sheriff Joe has told DHS to pound sand. He is arresting and detaining based on his own authority under the law in Arizona. This is a guy to admire
I remember. However, they are full-speed-ahead at freeing illegals by exec order and rule changes. With or without congress, illegals are being set free.
And still, the citizens do nothing. It’s been time to act for over 70 years. We all just bend over and take it.
These stories are getting very little press from the msm and I doubt the average American is aware of the recent changes.
If the citizens did what they should’ve long ago, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
I think Beck is talking about this, now.
Of course illegals are being set free, just as they were under George Bush and Clinton.
There are now an estimated 700,000 absconders roaming the United States, who have sucked up precious taxpayer resources in federal immigration court, and have been order to leave the country (but never placed in custody for deportation).
A prime example is Obozo’s Kenyan auntie, don’t know which U.S. city she’s in today but prior to Jan 20, 2009 she was legally an absconder who’d been gaming the U.S. immigration system for several years and all while living completely on the public dole in Boston.
Her (third??) court appearance in March 2009 was delayed until sometime in Spring 2010, no doubt becauase that’s the planned date to “legalize” the 700,000 absconders along with the other 20 million++ illegal alien peasants now in America.
Good thing they’ll all get health care on the taxpayer dole.
I was wondering what jurisdiction they are citing. If Joe is working to enforce the Arizona state laws, the Fed has no jurisdiction. I don’t know much about Arizona state law.
If I were the state of Arizona, I might send a bill to the Fed and sue them for not enforcing Federal laws.
The sheriff should start arresting DHS punks for obstruction.
Joe is enforcing Arizona and local Maricopa law. That’s why he told the feds to go pound sand.

If a crime is committed in his county, then he not only has every right to go after the perpetrators, but he has a duty to do so in order to portect the people of his county.
Local officials should ignore this “law” and do what is necessary to protect American citizens from thugs. Lease buses and take illegals to the border. Force them across at gunpoint if required. The American people would be solidly behind them all the way.
“Fellow Freepers, this is happening right under our noses and is getting very little press. Keep your eyes open because Obama is moving ahead making illegals US citizens. “
devane617, way too many freepers don’t give a damn and have fought tooth and nail against anyone who tried to stop this invasion spiraling us down to a 3rd world hell hole.
They like their cheap nannies more than their fellow citizens.
HOPE THEY’RE HAPPY!
AuntB, I agree with you, discussions of illegals gets very little response these days. Freepers, and other conservatives are so consumed with ObamaCare, that illegal immigration has fallen off the radar. The danger in the current ObamaCare obsession is that they (Obama) is using it to make radical changes like what we see in the story. Sad, but true...
