Heads Up!: Local PBS begins 'Mystery' on Thursdays.
PBS advert | 10/5/09 | DGHoodini

Watching 'Masterpiece Mystery, on Sunday hight, they announced that my local PBS channel would begin airing 'Mystey' on Thursday nights at 10:00 PM EDT. I don't know if this will be nationwide, but if you enjoy the show, you might want to check your guide.

They said they'd be starting with 'Foyle's War' season IV, a season I am pretty sure I have not yet seen. (hopefully) I always seem to catch the last few episodes of the final season of 'Foyle' when I have managed to see it.

Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll check it out. I once was a big PBS fan but rarely tune in these days - although there’s always Hyacinth Bucket...:)
Mystery is a fave, though.
I’d love to see some other series come back - I Claudius, Jeeves and Bertie, Adams Chronicles, for example.

Exciting news! I thought that PBS was featuring a 24/7 fundraising format. [/sarc]

All of the Foyle’s War series are excellent. I am really enjoying the Inspector Lewis series. They are so well done. I bet I watched all of the Morse series 10 times each, so to have Lewis back is really a treat. On the other hand, I also loved the Inspector Lynley series, with Sharon Short, and think it is a tragedy they aren’t going to make any more of them.

Thanks for the heads up. Spousal unit and I do like Mystery. We’ve been enjoying ‘Inspector Lewis’ as-of-late. Miss ol’ Morse, tho.

Me, I’d like to see ‘Rising Damp’, ‘To the Manor Born’ and ‘Yes, Prime Minister’....But I have slim hopes to even see them on BBCA. Ahd while I love ‘Aws Time Goes By’, I’ve seen it quite a lot, even bought the collection at a auction for a steal, I would love it if my local PBS ever put ‘My Family’ or ‘Black Adder’ on at 11:00 PM.

Jeeves and Bertie!! Unbeatable.

Wooster: "Madeline Bassett labors under the delusion that I am madly in love with her. Well, when a girl thinks you're in love with her and comes to you and says that she's returning her betrothed to store and is prepared to sign up with you instead - what can you do except marry her? You have to be civil."

LOL! I love them! Couldn’t believe Hugh Laurie was Bertie. I have to think he’s a genius actor.

“I am really enjoying the Inspector Lewis series. They are so well done.”

I only stumbled onto the Inspector Lewis series when I accidentally
caught the last 30 minutes of the episode that aired (here in Mid-Missouri)
this Sunday night. (It was the episode that, if I understand correctly,
involved a foster-mother that had an intimate relationship with a
foster-child.)

I was somewhat (happily) suprised that Lewis’ partner (and Lewis) got
involved in a lot of comment on C.S. Lewis’ writings as part of
their investigation.

Maybe I’m confused by only seeing 30 minutes of one episode, but
has Lewis’ partner in a way replaced “Morse” as the “deep thought”
partner that Morse was in the original “Morse” series?

Thanks in advance if you post any comment on my (probably confused) observation.

Lewis’ partner, Det. Sgt. Hathaway, is a former divinity student at Cambridge. He plays jazz fusion guitar, while Lewis is now into classical music! In the first episode, Lewis caught Hathaway doing a crossword puzzle and said, “Aw, not you, too!” That whole episode you saw the end of was based on the Oxford crowd that wrote fantasy fiction, C.S. Lewis, Tolkein, and others. Hathaway (and the guy who got killed) also quoted Sophocles in that one. I love it.

Masterpiece Theatre and Mystery were the only shows I ever watched on PBS. Then they decided to put the two together so that they can spend less tine on decent programming and more on liberal claptrap. now Masterpiece Mystery is constantly pre-empted for other worthless crap. PBS sucks.

FYI: If you go to PBS.org, I believe you will be able to watch the full episode that you caught the end of, and the episode from the previous week. But as far as I know, they only post two episodes at a time, so I think you’re outta luck on the earlier ones until they air them again.
