Has anybody fired a "Taurus Model 709 Slim"?

I am thinking about this for my primary CCW pistol.

Fairly new.
Single action with a safety in a small 9mm.

It seems so much better then the long, heavy trigger
pull of a self loader with no safety.

There's a good write-up about it on GunBlast.com. Seems to have some nice features for a CCW - external safety, internal striker mechanism that support both SA and DA (allows for trigger repull), and it is a light weight pistol at 18.5 ounces. Mag capacity is only 7 rds. of 9mm, which would make me a little nervous, even with +P JHP ammo. Personally, when I carry a 9mm, it's a Springfield XD with a 16-round mag.

As for the brand, I do own a Taurus (PT1911 .45) and it has been a pleasure - it's well-made, tight tolerances but not a tight spring, and fully as accurate as my Kimber .45.

I generally carry a Ruger LCP but I would mind moving up to a 9mm. What do they sell for?
During the cooler months I have a Taurus .40 I carry.

I parked my Kahr PM9 in favor of my Glock 26 over capacity issues. My G26 holds 10+1. Us po folk in California are restricted to 10 round mags. 16 rounds equals a lot of comfort.

I feel your pain. Even though I live in a state with rational gun laws (by which I mean - damned few), it burns my butt every time I look at the side of a gun case and see the big white warning label: "Not For Sale In California".

Our local dealer ables ammo has the stainless model at $388.

Titanium about $100 more.

Nope, but I do want them to make a .22LR slide that will fit on my PT111 frame... that would be slick and just the thing for Christmas!

Not for me. Too small, too little capacity.

My personal rule is "No Tupperware", but Farmer Dean got a S&W M&P in 45 and he swears by it, so I've been meaning to try one out.

If it was a .45 it might be interesting, but I do like my Kahr P-45. It is made in the US, carries 7rds too and weights the same, and probably has a better trigger, and no stupid lock.
