Has anybody fired a "Taurus Model 709 Slim"?
I am thinking about this for my primary CCW pistol.

is this a new firearm from Taurus?

There's a good write-up about it on
GunBlast.com. Seems to have some nice features for a CCW - external safety, internal striker mechanism that support both SA and DA (allows for trigger repull), and it is a light weight pistol at 18.5 ounces. Mag capacity is only 7 rds. of 9mm, which would make me a little nervous, even with +P JHP ammo. Personally, when I carry a 9mm, it's a Springfield XD with a 16-round mag.
As for the brand, I do own a Taurus (PT1911 .45) and it has been a pleasure - it's well-made, tight tolerances but not a tight spring, and fully as accurate as my Kimber .45.

Nope, but I do want them to make a .22LR slide that will fit on my PT111 frame... that would be slick and just the thing for Christmas!

Not for me. Too small, too little capacity.

My personal rule is "No Tupperware", but
Farmer Dean got a S&W M&P in 45 and he swears by it, so I've been meaning to try one out.

If it was a .45 it might be interesting, but I do like my Kahr P-45. It is made in the US, carries 7rds too and weights the same, and probably has a better trigger, and no stupid lock.
