The world ravaged by fires, earthquakes, meteor showers and floods and a heroic struggle for survivors.
It sounds like something straight out of Hollywood - and it is. This is the first glimpse of the latest U.S. blockbuster, 2012.
John Cusack leads an all-star cast, featuring Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Amanda Peet struggling to stay alive when the Earth is threatened with the biggest disaster man has ever known.

It’s truly a great book.
~LOL~ good story.

Hey, are there shots of the movie studios in Hollywood crumbling to the ground as actors and executives flee in terror? I think I’d stand up and cheer that part! NO MORE
LIB MOVIES!
I saw that preview and immediately said that has got to be the stupidist and most OTT piece of crap to come out in years. None of it was remotely believable. I can suspend belief if the story is good, but this looks down right insulting to a person’s intelligence.
Me, I’m looking forward to COD: 6, 11-10-09. That rocks.
Check out the movie Redbelt. He was excellent in it.
I’d rather watch Panic in Year Zero!
Wimpy John Cusack as the lead actor in a big budget disaster movie. Yeah. That’ll be believable.
I think everything Cusack did up until Hi Infidelity was great. Everything since has sucked.
Interesting review. Lead character is divorced. President Danny Glover with no mention of a first lady. Also divorced?
Independence Day ... Goldblum’s character was divorced, Smith’s character was engaged to/married an exotic dancer.
Day After Tomorrow ... another divorced/separated couple in lead roles.
Okay ... I know divorce is overly common in today’s world, but Hollywood seems to be thinking this is the standard.
But regarding 2012 ... it does look laughable. I won’t pay theater prices to see this one.
Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that.
the description of old age and the passing of time was amazing. It was like the The Death of Ivan Ilych. I really like the way Ish tried to keep the "old ways" but the realism of how "real" people don't necessarily want to "learn" or "are curious" was melancholy and so true.
I was wondering if somehow the small generators or solar that is available now would change his view of rebuilding.
whatever happens to the nukes? I just had more questions about the other places. It was just a great book, you are right.
I just discovered he played “the Operative” in _Serenity_. An excellent actor! Sounds like he needs a new agent, though.
Danny Glover protested on behalf of Gary Graham, a man sentenced to death after he went on a murder spree. One of his victims survived a gunshot to the face (in his own car).
So it's a computer cartoon with some actors pasted into it.
