Be very, very careful around/near raccoons. Lots of them are showing up with rabies.

Try a BB gun. A few shots in their butts let them know they might want to stay away.

My husband and sons used a high powered (if there is one) paint ball gun. The squirrel took about 7 shots of yellow paint, but it hasn’t returned. Note: aim away from the house! :)

Yes, but normally they scare easily and avoid a fight at all costs.

I really don't understand why no one is sending them to raccoon heaven.

They are totally destructive, diseased, and very aggressive.

Living out in the woods here in Kentucky, I’m constantly plagued with coons and possums. The coons ate all my wife’s
grapes and fuji apples this year and she was furious.

I have a squirrel feeder our back about 10 feet up in a tree and every now and again a coon will figure out how to navigate an electric fence to get over to the tree and munch the squirrels corn.

I’ve found you cannot run a possum or coon off and expect it to stay gone. They will be back! Guaranteed!!

A 20 guage with a light load will work every time. If the shot don’t kill them or you just manage to get a few pellets in one... he won’t be back. Pomise!

Shot placement!

I heard that piping country music out in the vicinity will repel coons pretty good.

Not long after, I accidentally shut a young raccoon in my garage overnight. Made a mess and was heck to try to get rid of.

I woke up to what sounded like an eathquake knocking over things in our garage. Racoon trapped in there had tipped over shelves, etc...right on to a brand spankin new car we had just bought.

It wasn't one of our happiest days..

Raccoons are about the nastiest creatures on earth. They will eat anything at any level of rot. They are not afraid of humans. They are more likely to carry rabies than any other animal in the eastern USA. They make a mess of even well sealed trash they climb on and scratch your cars. They will eat all the corn and grapes from your garden. If a litter is born nearby you will have a lot of them. The more there are the more competitive and brazen they become. I hate them. They are worse than coyotes. Kill them when you can.

well, we have a 2 yr old Golden Retriever. Not quite a Poodle...but not exactly a Rottie either... lol

To all suggesting firearms...we live in a suburb of DC, and the hubby has a security clearance...I don’t think we should go that route. From reading the county laws, even shooting a BB gun from our backdoor is illegal. That said, would an airsoft pistol be considered a pellet/BB gun? I’d ask the hubby, but he’s TDY at the moment, and heck, I’ve got all of you right here...lol
