"Army Buys 329 Speedy Tanks at $6,000,000; First Step in Mechanizing of Ground Forces"

"...The army order is being handled at the Rock Island (Ill.) Arsenal."

"Rock Island Arsenal started work on a new medium tank, based on the design of the M2 Light Tank..."

M2 Medium Tank:

In theory, these tanks could match German Mark III's, but not in reality.
They were not even close to Mark IV's. So they were obsolete before completed.

German Mark IV -- 262 produced before Polish campaign, another 223 soon after.:

Only about 100 M2 Medium tanks were produced before changing over to the more "modern" M3 Lees & Grants:

Reading the speech of “Glasgow Laborite” George Buchanan, I reached the conclusion that Pat had to be related to him.

He does strike a similar chord.

The first to speak in support of Mr. Lloyd George was George Buchanan, Glasgow Laborite, who questioned the desire among the masses for war and said that on the contrary he "never saw in 1914 anything like the hostility for war I find today."

Cries of "No!" interrupted him, but he continued that he had returned from Poland in the last ship before the war and he declared that if the British Government had told the Poles that "all we are going to do is what we have done, Poland never would have entered the war."

"Poland entered the war" is not exactly how I would characterize what happened on September 1.
