Whether You Like it or Not - California Will Legalize Pot Next Year

(That seems to be the idea behind a new article out today)

According to a well known, and outspoken leader from the left it’s a good bet that the state will legalize Pot next year.

Part of the reason?

The state needs...

Then California gets to see if Federal Law trumps State Law.

Let's hope & pray that those in Cali will finally learn the importance of the 10th Amendment when or if they re-legalize marijuana. Good for them!

I don’t care enough about California to care about what California does. If Californians feel they have to be stoned to tolerate the place, they should know.

I received a flyer for a “medical doctor” who gives prescriptions for medical marijuana the other day. It said “Marijuana works!” The conditions for which he felt marijuana would help included the following specifics: headache, anxiety, depression, insomnia.

The only possible good thing I can see coming out of this is the rest of the states seeing just how stupid a move this is and avoid doing it themselves.

What if the change in CA's marijuana laws becomes a success? What then?

Idiot. Why would people pay tax for something they are currently getting tax free? If tobacco was easier to grow, there would be a booming black market in cigs right now, and sooner or later some body in Columbia or else where is going to figure that out, grow a legal crop in Columbia, quit fighting the government down there and run the tobacco into this country as contraband. A no brainer.

Most of us are also aware that most of the alcoholics drink in order to soothe the initial paranoia in their pot high.

Really? I'd love to see stats to support this, because I think you are making it up out of whole cloth. Not only do you appear to be saying that marijuana is the worst drug in the world, but now you are blaming it for alcoholism. Quite an amazing train of thought.

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Heavy marijuana use can boost blood levels of a particular protein, perhaps raising a person’s risk of a heart attack or stroke, U.S. government researchers said on Tuesday.

Dr. Jean Lud Cadet of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the National Institutes of Health, said the findings point to another example of long-term harm from marijuana. But marijuana activists expressed doubt about the findings.

Cadet said a lot of previous research has focused on the effects of marijuana on the brain. His team looked elsewhere in the body, measuring blood protein levels in 18 long-term, heavy marijuana users and 24 other people who did not use the drug.

Levels of a protein called apolipoprotein C-III were found to be 30 percent higher in the marijuana users compared to the others. This protein is involved in the body’s metabolism of triglycerides — a type of fat found in the blood — and higher levels cause increased levels of triglycerides, Cadet added.

High levels of triglycerides can contribute to hardening of the arteries or thickening of the artery walls, raising the risk of stroke, heart attack and heart disease.”

I’m with you, time for Bozo to learn he has limits on what he can say no to, almost nothing actually, only bills that come across his desk. State business is state business. I bet you see a whole lot of left wingers suddenly studying the constitution in CA to find out what the 10th amendment is.

What drug war; do you mean the government program which goes after only Americans; leaving illegal Aliens, classified minorities, “Friends of Government” and foreign importers alone?

In the grand scheme of things there are far more troublesome issues.

My bet is the prison guard union is against it - fewer prisoners means fewer jobs.

Why are people talking like they know the specifics of how it would work?

Most certainly, the illegal drug dealers of today would make a lot less money than they are now.

I’d also assume that they’d let you grow it, but I could be wrong on that.

Because black market distribution averages a 500% price increase in every transaction step and white market distribution is almost always below 300% markup. So even with taxes it’ll be cheaper.

When was pot made illegal in the US? There is very very little tradition behind the illegality of pot in the US. Pot was made illegal here during the new deal era.

I respect your decision (or the lack thereof)...the important thing is that the decision is YOURS, not that of Washington, D.C. — ESPECIALLY when you consider that we live in a federal constitutional republic & have a 10th Amendment that limits the powers of that government.

The likely result is that Californians will smoke about the same amount that they do now. Amsterdam will be hurt by a drop-off in tourism and California will be helped by a rise in tourism.

I always find it interesting that so many of the libtards that are anti smoking (cigarettes) are for the legalization of pot.......

I know, & IMO, it's utterly ridiculous! I've been saying for years that we need some CONSISTENCY in our laws: either legalize both of them, or make tobacco illegal too & punish tobacco addicts just like they do those of us who enjoy smoking marijuana.
