Who is Ray Clark, Alleged Murderer of Yale Student Annie Le?

Ray Clark Was Charged Today In The Murder of Annie Le, Who Was Set to Be Married Last Weekend

Conflicting images of accused murderer Raymond Clark III are emerging in the wake of his arrest in the strangulation of Yale grad Annie Le.

There is the Ray Clark his high school friends remember: competive baseball player who was respectful of authority, volunteered to help the homeless and raised money for cancer stricken patients. He was also a member of the Asian Awareness Club.

Others, mostly those from more recent days, saw a darker side of the 24-year-old Clark: withdrawn, officious at work, and very controlling of his fiance. There is even a police report suggesting that Clark was once menacing enough for his high school girlfriend to call the cops.

Ryan Santoro, who says he's known Clark since they were both 12 and played on a Little League baseball team together in Branford, Conn., said that he never thought of Clark as someone who would be involved in a murder case.

"I never would have thought that he would have done anything like this," said Santoro, who played alongside Clark for five years. "Most of the guys we played with are pretty shocked at the [accusations against Clark]."

Santoro described Clark as a "pretty good ballplayer" who had a competitive streak.

"He cared about winning," said Santoro. "He wouldn't have played if he didn't."

Asked whether he recalls Clark having a short fuse on the field or off, Santoro said "no."

"He was a pretty nice kid," said Santoro. "He was very good with people who were older, he respected authority."

My theory is that this guy had a serious obsession with this girl. He saw his last chance to declare his love before she got married and was hoping she felt the same about him. She rejects him, there is an argument, it gets out of control and he kills her.

From what I understand she was going for her ph.d in pharmacology. She would use the mice for her experiments and I guess you have to clean your own cages. The janitorial staff just mops floors and empties trash cans. They’re not responsible for cleaning mouse cages.

I read that also.

I wonder if PETA will help with his defense costs?

I’ve read that he wasn’t a Yale student and prob didn’t go to college at all - he worked at this lab as a ‘technician’ (cleaned the mice cages etc) along with his fiance, and his sister? and her husband?

He probably thought he could pick on her for her size (a small Asian woman) and he probably argued with her and lost his mind and killed her? How horrible this story is....

Yale is a beautiful campus, my niece was accepted there a few years ago but chose another IVY school

Anyway, they said his neighbors cheered when he was arrested.

Well now, he lived in an apt. & the police have kept his neighbors up all night what with their banging around in the apt. searching for stuff. And one or two of his neighbors might be growing a little herb so there's a number of reasons why they might be cheering.

They had to wait for DNA test results after they took samples from him when they first took him into custody—they couldn’t hold him even though they were pretty sure he was the perp. The DNA results apparently came back; they’d had him under surveillance ever since they released him, so now they have cause to charge him with the crime so they arrested him a second time.

Not really that mystifying.

In one article I read, it said he was NOT a student at Yale. Just a mouse poop cleaner. And now a murderer.

yea, that could be a valid theory too....

it’s hard to know now - we’ll have to wait for the trial/evidence no doubt.

If he texted her (apparently) then it will maybe show if it’s just about the cage cleanings or something more...

either way it’s an awful loss and destruction of young lives for WHAT?

I am guessing that he is a undiagnosed case of OCD maybe even early paranoid schizophrenia. I met a person like that where I used to work. Plain, unassuming and intelligent but once you started to talk to him you realize he was border line delusional. I became alarmed as I spoke to him because if they perceive their worldview is threatened in anyway they go ballistic. It comes as a complete surprise to most people. In the case I encountered they guy was fired after an outburst. I am in no way trying to excuse Ray Clarks actions and he deserves what is coming to him but it would be interesting to see what a psych workup turns up.

Cleaning cages WAS part of his job. I doubt if it was part of hers.

And now a murderer.

No, a suspect.

I realize such distinctions tend to be glossed over in a world of sounbytes, but some might consider them important. "Conservatives," for example.
