Senator Jim DeMint, R-SC, released a scathing critique Wednesday night of the healthcare plan released by Sen. Max Baucus, calling it a rehash that does nothing to "increase Americans' access to affordable healthcare coverage.

What follows is DeMint's point-by-point critique:

The chairman’s health care proposal (known as the "chairman's mark") that was released by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., in advance of next week’s Finance Committee Markup is just more of the same big government policies that have been proposed by this Congress and this administration for months. The chairman’s rehashed proposal does nothing to increase Americans’ access to affordable health care coverage. In fact, the Baucus plan includes several devastating provisions that hurt the ability of millions of Americans to keep the coverage they currently have (and like).

That’s right.
The Feast of Baucus is a gluttonous orgy for the trial lawyers and unions.

Can you say one and done, boys and girls?

No public option = 0 has lost his left flank. They are already turning on him quickly. 2010 is just the start of the schism that is already ripping them apart.

GREAT work, Jim!!! BTW, I saw his speech on Saturday; he’s a much better speaker on a stage than he might appear on camera. Jim has my vote!

The only other one I can think of is another Jim - Inhofe. We would probably already have some version of cap and trade without him. He’s fought that battle for a decade and is only now starting to get some support.

When Jim DeMint said during the rally on Washington last Saturday that he felt safer and comfortable with those people at the mall than being inside with the people on Capital Hill says a lot.... I think DeMint was right.

We may need peaceful civil disobedience, particularly if we get those numbers and the Congress and White House keep ignoring us and voting their way in light of our huge turnouts. Block entrances/exits to Congress and the White House, jam phone lines, anything and everything that the HAILED civil rights marchers did in the 1960s as the great heroes they are today. If they did it, so can we. We will force a change like they have NEVER seen. It will be an fantastic reversal of Marxism.

Even Senator Reid doesn’t like the Baucus bill.

==

Makes one wonder what kind of sausage the bill would have looked like had they been able to ram it through before the August recess.
