Syfy Bumps Back BSG's 'The Plan'

First it was November, and then it was this fall.

Now “Battlestar Galactica: The Plan” won't air in 2009 at all according to the Syfy channel and Chicago Tribune columnist Maureen Ryan.

The much anticipated movie, which is a new take on the pivotal events of “Battlestar Galactica,” will tell the story of the attack on the Twelve Colonies from the point of view of the Cylons.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the release and with much reason. The show ended in April, which left a lot of fans wanting more after only four seasons. Edward James Olmos, the director and legendary Adm. William Adama in the series that ran from 2003 to 2009, has said on numerous occasions that when “Battlestar” fans see “The Plan,” "They’re all going to have to go back and watch the entire series again.”

I want to make a scifi movie. We can do it the way they make the Trek episodes at Phase 2...

whose with me?

The original Battlestar Galactica lasted two season, I believe. The new Sci-Fi version lasted four seasons.

Although both were good, they were long enough. Edward James Almos, I believe, made the second show ... just as Lorne Greene made the first.

But Sci-fi Channel is always coming up with good shows like the Eureka, Sanctuary and Warehouse 13.

Plus we have had the good ones like Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Firefly, The Dresden Files, SG-1, Primeval and many more. (on many different stations)

Fracking Cool. I had to watch Caprica three times to really appreciate the nuance in it and get past the 90210 relationship issues.

Are you talking about something completely original or are you talking about something from the Star Trek/Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica universe?
Do you have any experience with movies?

Anyone up on the rumor that there is another Dr. Who spin-off coming centered around his daughter? A lot more time travel story-lines akin to Quantum Leap? It is a rumor floating around some BBC fan boards (the ones that were right about the new Dr. and companion).

The Doctor Who spin off sounds interesting. The Brits seem to give us a lot of good shows of many varieties.

Quantum Leap, I forgot ... that was a great one. Thanks.

Just saw the movie Jumper and enjoyed it. Hear there’s a sequel in the works. Man could he mess up a room!

We’ve com a long way from the Irwin Allen and initial Gene Roddenberry hits.

I was expecting Jumper to be pure cheese, but it was good. Another one on the same lines that was pretty good was Push.

I have no experience. I just want to do something like that. Something original. Something we could actually try to make money on after its finished. Those people making those fan productions aren't allowed to make a dime on it. Paramount would come down on them like a wall of bricks. I know setting something up like this could take a couple of years. oh... I did spend two weeks as an extra when "Any Given Sunday" came to film at the old Texas Stadium.

He was one of the reasons I watched new BSG. As much as I liked Terry Carter (70’s series), Col. Tigh was a great character in the new one.

The new BSG was very good in a lot of ways. It was just the last episode that let me down.

When and where does Dr. Who come back to US TV?

I don’t know. But I am interested in seeing the newest “youngest” Doctor Who.

They probably have to chickify it some. Or add wrestling. Or ghost hunters. Or something.

The much anticipated movie, which is a new take on the pivotal events of “Battlestar Galactica,” will tell the story of the attack on the Twelve Colonies from the point of view of the Cylons.

I'd like to understand the POV of the Cylons re: their conduct on New Caprica. That never made sense to me.
