Here in California we use the term “accountants” and “horrible drivers”.
I know, my bad! :-)

This is ridiculous!.....Sure!... just charge the taxpayer for the extra printing when you say “persons of Asian or Pacific islander heritage” instead of Oriental....WHAT A BUNCH OF DAMN JACKASSES!!

it’s already a social taboo. I was “educated” on this years ago.

Does "Asian" include anyone from the continent of Asia or just those who are "Aaaaasian" (puts fingers in the corners of eyes and pulls back to make them slanty). Similar to "African"-American doesn't include people originally from Egypt.

What’s offensive about “Oriental”? A lot of Orientals call themselves that.

What the **** are you talking about? The Chinaman is not the issue here, Dude. I'm talking about drawing a line in the sand, Dude. Across this line, you DO NOT...
Also, Dude, Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.

Why is this in the Times of India and not a New York periodical?

I’ve been to New York. Lots of “rugs of asian origin” in the hotel lobbies there!
To: JoeProBono
“Oriental” simply means “eastern”. “Negro” simply means “black”...why things like this ever cause offense, I don’t know.
I’m offended when I’m called “caucasian”. I’m not caucasian. I don’t believe that white Europeans originated in the Caucasus region. Anyone want to take up my cause?
