LOS ANGELES Ellen DeGeneres is dancing her way onto "American Idol," replacing Paula Abdul as the show's fourth judge. In a Wednesday release from Fox and the show's producers, DeGeneres described herself as a longtime fan of the hit singing contest.
Abdul, who announced she was quitting the show amid a contract dispute, had been replaced by a succession of guest judges as "American Idol" started next season's auditions.
DeGeneres, host of a daytime talk show, wasn't among them. She will join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for the ninth season starting in January.

>>>Sorry to offend your delicate sensibilities poor little tlb-sey,
No need to apologize jassy-sey. As I’m not Ellen I wasn’t offended. I was simply embarrassed for you on your display of churlishness and childishness. Mispronouncing somebody’s name doesn’t call for wit, cleverness, or intelligence. As we don’t choose our family names this sort of thing is just the cheapest of cheap shots. But I guess it’s the best some can do.
Carry on.
The End.
Hi Jonny-thanks for the ping. I don’t mind Ellen as a rule but what are the PTB thinking? She isn’t in the music industry! I guess she’s hired to be the nice judge. Ellen did a 1 night guest judging stint on So You Think You Can Dance? this summer and she loved all the dances and didn’t critisize anything...I see her doing the same on AI.
Oh I guess you did see this. LOL Yeah, I don’t get it. She doesn’t seem like the type who would be willing to share the spotlight and, let’s be honest, Simon is the star of that show.
NO WAY!
Hey! Where’s the sarcasm tag? It’s got to be around here somewhere....looking, looking, looking. NOpe haven’t found it yet.
When I saw Ellen on the dancing show, she was horrible and added absolutely nothing but obnoxious drivel. There's just no credibility and I like to think that the judges on these types of shows have something to back up what they're saying.
Very disappointing...
I just read the article! Shocking. I do like Ellen’s comedy. Her younger HBO stage shows are hysterical.
Ellen is funny, but this makes no sense as she has never been in the music industry. It would make more sense to find someone who has a history in the music industry either as a producer or a singer. I will miss Paula. I know she rambled sometimes, but that’s what made it entertaining.
Say what?
Ugh.
I really need to hire Ellen Degeneres’s agent to represent me.
I’m done with the show.
Well, I’m out! I won’t watch that thing.
Oh geez, your overboard gushing of Ellen DeGeneres is quite nauseating. And no, I don’t watch the show. I don’t have to because the media sticks the fricking show in our face constantly. It is a disgusting show on so many levels. As for as gay men, you would proabably know.
Did I see a tear in your eye? Here’s a tissue. Let me know when you acquire a sense of humor.
Randy Jackson coming up to discuss with the Friends.
I just saw the replay. Randy (was he sitting beside Bloomberg?) tried to make the best of it, but he had the same "Dude, you're the bomb!" tone in his voice that he had when he was pimping Monchichi.
Randy: (paraphrase) "Ellen's a homegirl. We're both from Louisiana! Louisiana is gonna take over the panel! The South's gonna do it again!"
LOL!
Well they certainly didn’t pick her for her dancing ability. What a joke the judging panel will be this year. Two lame-brained women. Makes us women look bad. What happened to Cadaver Spice? (Obviously I’m behind the eight ball on this.)
Situations like this are why God invented the “Mute” button on my remote.
