RENO, Nev. (AP) - The lawyer for a former Nevada casino worker who has accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her says his client will drop her civil lawsuit if he acknowledges the rape and apologizes. Attorney Cal Dunlap says in a letter to Roethlisberger's lawyers that his client would also like the quarterback to donate $100,000 to the Committee to Aid Abused Women, a Reno nonprofit organization.
The woman filed the suit in July accusing the Super Bowl-winning quarterback assaulted her in 2008 in a hotel across the street from a golf course where he was playing in a celebrity tournament.
Dunlap says the offer is designed to counter claims made by Roethlisberger's lawyers that his client only filed the lawsuit to get money.

I didn’t know about this story when I picked him as a QB on my fantasy football team. This is going to hurt his performance.
What a stunt. Sure he admits the rape and loses all his endorsements and is banned from football. She then becomes a media darling hawking her story to whoever is willing to give her the bucks. I know this had to be her attorney’s idea but this makes me lose a lot of sympathy I had for her. I guess it is not looking good for a settlement or a affirmative judgment.
Yeah, this smells badly of slander.

And why exactly would Ben take that deal? So he can be charged with rape and go to prison and lose his NFL job and salary.
Shades of Kobe Bryant. What is the legal penalty for false rape accusations these days. There seem to be quite a few against famous athletes. We really need a stout punishment for women who falsely cry rape and impugn a man’s reputation. Probation or pay court costs or something. Once a famous man is accused of rape, there are always going to be a large body of people who are convinced he is guilty and there is NO WAY he is ever going to be able to prove differently to them.
Bryant virtually admitted he raped the girl in his “apology.” Read it.
If she really was raped, why would she accept JUST an admission?? Doesn’t make sense. Wouldn’t she want to take a dangerous rapist off the streets?? If he did admit it, then the authorities would have to prosecute. Smells fishy.
I read that testimony from her friend. This chick accusing Big Ben is nuts, she’s very mediocre looking too, I do a lot better than Ben, lol.
So back to the statment you claim as a "virtual admission" of guilt. Read it for yourself and then point out this "virtual admission". You can't. Because it is not there.
First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.
I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.
I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado.[24]
Your victims are better looking?
Ben could strike a blow for justice by going after and destroying this money-hungry witch and her lawyer...
