MADEIRA BEACH A 41-year-old man who witnesses said had been drinking since 9 a.m. was arrested Monday afternoon after authorities say he created a disturbance by pretending to drown and throw jellyfish on teenagers.
Keith Edward Marriott, of 100 154th Ave. in Madeira Beach, faces charges of disorderly intoxication and carrying a concealed weapon after a pocketknife was found in his shorts.
Marriott repeatedly submerged himself and floated to the surface, then he started throwing sea creatures.

drunk people is not all that uncommon on that beach. A lot of condo’s and tourist places.

Obviously Police today have no appreciation for the ability to have fun with limited resources.

Don’t know about the Gulf Coast of Florida but we get Portuguese Men of War on the east coast beaches and you do NOT want to get stung by a tentacle, even when they are lying dead on the sand.

I live right down the road from this and swim in the Gulf every day. I have yet to see a single jellyfish.

It’s Florida. Some years back 7 or 8 guys in the same area were arrested for playing penny ante poker at their trailer park. After that an older person was arrested for not returning a library book - and now this - tossing jellyfish...

I’m sorry, maybe I’m just tired — it’s 10P here, right now in MD — but reading that just made me giggle. It’s not nice to pretend you are drowning, but I have wanted to throw jellyfish at teenagers on many occasions.
Poorly written piece, though. Did the writer actually mean that the man was pretending to drown and pretending to throw the jellyfish?
