What Did Sarah Say?
Sept 08, 2009 | swampsniper

Did Sarah Palin make a statement supporting Obama's speech to the kids? The local liberals have jumped on this claim, as well as crowing about Laura Bush's misguided remarks.

Actually, Laura Ingraham said that his speech in its current form is probably a good speech. She wasn’t for it last week, though.

From what I've seen, the left and various reports are taking this 2008 quote and trying to make it related to today's speech:

I know. Let us preach, reaching people when they know there is a candidate willing to talk about this.(note, this is a current story on the school speech so you can see how they are making it related.)

I agree on the surface (minus the associated curriculum) the speech isn’t bad IF the President sticks to that script. Let’s see if the final, live speech is the same as what the released script.

I was taught to salute the uniform, not the man and to respect the office, not the occupant. The wise thing for those of us on the right to have done is to have given the president the opportunity to speak to the children and then reacted to what was said or not said. The preemptive panty bunching diminishes our legitimate issues with him.

Yes, the speech as it is is probably ok. Who knows what “was” in the speech before it got all the attention it has. The MO for this admin seems to be throw enough sh*t against the wall and see what sticks. When they get called on something, they ratchet it back to a palatable level, but inevitably, some stuff will go unchallenged.

Nope, nothing on her Facebook page about it.

The problem isn't the speech as the prepared remarks were released, the problem was the whole "what can I do to help the President?" schtick that was going to be pushed... until wind of it got out, and parents justifiably protested. The current version is revised based on that outrage.

That aside, since Obama is a walking pile of hubris, I wouldn't put it past him to stray from the prepared remarks -- even knowing how many eyes will be on this now -- except that if he deviates from the teleprompter, he can't put two coherent sentences together.

I think we Conservatives should declare Victory and take credit for getting Obummer to revise his speech and education plan.

Parents have the right to know what any school speaker or group is going to say or cover with their kids in school. The president should not be any different and he needed to know that political electioneering to our children should not be tolerated! The proposed lesson plans related to the speech that were suddenly jetisoned in many school districts says a lot about what the whole effort was about!

I haven’t seen anything about Sarah Palin approving of his speech. I did read the transcript of his speech, it’s all I, me, and my. Essentially, it’s the standard 0bama speech, all about himself.

I don’t agree, conservative Americans have got to learn to protest, and protest loud. We have been holding in our emotions for far too long.

Sate-Media ignores the real reason for all the uproar!

The uproar began when we saw the accompanying lesson plans to follow the speech:

President Obama's plan to inspire the nation's schoolchildren with a video address next week erupted into controversy Wednesday, forcing the White House to pull out its eraser and rewrite a government recommendation that teachers nationwide assign students a paper on how to "help the president."

Bingo.

Funny how Obammie had to release this speech in advance so that parents could be satisfied that his ealier plans to have the chil’ren pledge support to Obama was now cut out.

But they think Sarah is a dufus. So if she supports the speech, why would this be a “victory” for the left? They seem a bit confused. :)

For me, the speech was never the issue. It was the homework assignment handed down by the White House.

They are using the claim as a club, just as they are with Laura Bush’s case of blabbermouth syndrome.

I disagree. A little reflexive preemptive panty bunching can be a good thing if it keeps the socialist thug in our White House off balance. Besides, reflexive panty bunching is almost certain to be the right reaction to any move by obama.
