Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer ?

I'm laid-off and looking for a job and I see time and time again job listings that state "Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer". Isn't it impossible to be both. Aren't EOE and AA contradictory ?

An Affirmative Action Employer like Vanderbilt University is inherently racist. Hiring based upon merit is impossible. So yes, it is NewSpeak, for them to claim to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.

You have a real problem. Can you say? Unemployable.
I suspect your best route is to start some kind of a business cause there ain't nobody going to hire you
at anything near a living wage, regardless of your skills.

A young Mom-to-be recently said that her husband was teasing her and told her he wanted to give the boy they are expecting the name Jebadiah. I told her that was a great idea because when he eventually put that name on applications for college he would be a shoe-in, no questions asked.

Affirmative Action = If someone is non-white they get the job, whether they have any relevant experience or not

Head of Personnel (back when it still was Personnel) of a FORTUNE 10 Company... that was his exact quote.

This was back mid 70’s before they learned they had to hide the truth. I learned a LOT that day.
