Word For The Day, Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Apparently Burger King isn’t a good place to estivate — summer or any time of the year:

KISD showed the Zero speech.
VRWCboy said Zero had three teleprompters for the speech and it was very obvious as he looked from one to the other to the other. And apparently the speech as released by the WH was fed verbatim to the teleprompters.
The speech itself was non-controversial and very similar in content to the speech made by GHWB in 1991 — you know the one that sent Gephardt into hissy fits and inspired hearings and investigations.

He didn't say. I'm guessing they didn't.

He is taking an AP Economics class. His teacher is pretty funny. He has a lot of his instructional material online and uses video lessons. In one, he is standing next to a cardboard cutout of Zero and introduces him saying that the President is going to talk about the economic subject they are studying. He pauses, waiting for him to say something and then picks the cutout up and sets it aside and says, "No, I guess there's not much behind the smile after all." It got quite a laugh from VRWCboy (and from me as well).

that is hilarious. xsteen is excited to have an intl politics professor this semester who has been ragging on libs. Yesterday he was ragging on deadTed’s funeral, he has also made fun of the country of CANADA> there was a poli sci conference up in Toronto last week. He said something about their money and how one of the bills has a woman soldier on it,she is wearing a UN beret and is holding binoculars instead of a weapon.

What do you think is behind the “fashionable” movement to hide all the tabernacles?

A desire to break the ignorant masses of their belief in the Real Presence. They couch it up as not wanting the poor simpletons to be fooled by the “distraction” of the tabernacle behind the altar when the Mass is taking place and the Presence is being made Present on the altar.

But the point is to obviate the need to genuflect upon entering Church and to relegate the Real Presence to a far off closet somewhere.

oh, they say the right words...they believe.....BUT the point they would make (I am projecting their thoughts here) is that after mass we ARE the body of Christ and who needs the bread with his presence when we ARE Him..........yep, I know....almost feels like self worship.

it is liberalism plain and simple. Liberals believe they are more intelligent, more sophisticated etc. and ABOVE the masses. i am reading about Eleanor of Aquitaine who was married to King Henry II. They may have been barbarians back then, but they were more in tune with God. Henry II was blamed for the murder of Thomas Becket and did penance by wearing a hair shirt, walking to Canterbury Cathedral in sackcloth and ashes, and offering himself up for flogging by the monks there. We are far too sophisticated for such things today and our faith is the poorer for it. Not that i advocate those things, mind you, but they are illustrative of the faith held by people back then.

I am in a period of feeling more alienated from my church than ever. after the kennedy funeral and listening to my two priests carry on about what a saint the man was I have had my fill. even my beloved sister who teaches bible study has me on guard. I need some time alone with my Lord to get my balance back.

There is a disease in the Church, of that there is no doubt. I am going to send you our former priest’s sermon on healthcare, for some spiritual sustenance. : ) check your email for it.

Thanks for asking, Vastie. I’m watching all y’alls. LOL!

Just slow on the draw with all the shots in my back.

We had something fall out of the sky for two days. I think it’s called “rain,” do you know what that is?
