When I was in high school (mid 1960s), I would listen to those radio broadcasts over the car radio.

IIRC, WLS-Chicago and a station out of New Orleans broadcast some of them, usually on Sunday evening.

Dear Ed:

I’ve been listening to “The Big Broadcast” for years, since the days of John Hickman. Before that, as a teenager, I never missed “Recollections” with John Hickman. And before that, I remember the Joy Boys going back to when I was a toddler.

Thanks to the interwebs, I can record your show every Sunday night out here in North Dakota.

I wish I knew a lot more about John Hickman. What a great radio man!
