It not only puts human lives at risk but causes many unnecessary deaths of bears.

I am so tired of the “dance with wolves, run through the tall grass naked” syndrome.
Animals are animals and people are people. Domesticated animals are called that because they have some product or service we want and in exchange for it we will give them food, and these species (horses, dogs, cats, barnyard animals) are at a mental/emotional level where they have the ability to relate to us and understand this in their own way. Therefore they can be domesticated.
In addition, they realize that while we are not physically stronger, we can do things to them that they don’t like - whip them, hit them, or even kill them using a tool - so there is a fear element, too.
Wild animals are...ta da...wild animals. They can’t be domesticated, and because of the “dances with wolves” syndrome, they have lost their fear of us.

There’s a whole lot more that love them than love bears too much. :-)

Well said and there seem to be more and more of these people suffering the syndrome.
