A man who said his cat had eaten most of a 500 note has been refused a replacement by the German Bundesbank.
The administrative court in Frankfurt upheld the federal banks refusal to replace the note, after the man failed to provide enough evidence to back up his claim.
According to a report in the Neue Juristische Wochenschrift weekly legal magazine, the court said generally around half of a bank note must be available, and the claimant must be able to prove that the rest has been destroyed, to qualify for a replacement.
Bundesbank workers refused to replace the mans 500 note after suspecting the bits he had presented were from several different notes.
The court said it shared the Bundesbank suspicions, adding that in order to be convincing, the man would also have to produce undigested remains from the cats excrement.

It’s right up there with the dog ate my homework.

I claimed one time my brother ate my homework. When the teacher said "don;t you mean your dog?" I said, no my brother ate him too
Cute cat.
Fun trivia fact: The 500 euro note is not the most valuable piece of currency. That honor goes to the Swiss 1000 franc note.
LOL
IIRC, to replace a Federal Reserve Note at a bank, you have to have at least half the bill and, I think, parts of both serial numbers.
