Women have long complained that their faces are often the last thing men look at and now a scientific study has proved them right.
Researchers found that virtually half 47 per cent of men first glance at a womans chest. A third of the so-called first fixations are on the waist and hips, while fewer than 20 per cent look at the face.
Not only are breasts often the first thing men look at, they also glance at them for longer than any other body part, the experts discovered.
Its thought that the reason might be evolutionary, as women with larger chests and slim waists such as opera singer Katherine Jenkins have higher levels of the female hormone oestrogen, indicating greater fertility.
But the researchers conceded that there could be a more prosaic explanation. Men may be looking more often at the breasts because they are simply aesthetically pleasing, regardless of the size, they said.
The scientists recorded which areas men looked at first, the number of times they looked, and how long their gaze lasted, using cameras and mirrors to measure tiny eye movements.
It also found that men began to gaze at the components of the hourglass figure within 0.2 seconds.

Those shoes must be painful.
...but you don’t know what she’s charged with yet.
Motorboat!!!
Why would you draw that conclusion? She might be quite a lovely person, a woman a man could love for her spirit. Why would you assume just from looking at her picture that she says unpleasant things or that a man would get tired of her?
I suppose that means . . .
that you are determined to lead a new
study to see if the results can be replicated
. . . by braille???
If she isn't, she sure as hell ought to be!
Selma Hayak is my “first fization.” She just happens to have breasts; or so I’m told.
T-shirt post yesterday or Friday: Your breasts are staring at my eyes.
Well, why didn’t I ever think about that.
Oh,and you know a woman that does not nag?The only one I can think of is Mary,Who was married to Joseph. And I looked at her eyes first and they are beautiful.
Freepers have a lot of interest in research!
Their daughter Mariska hasn't been shortchanged in looks either (reminds me, there is a Law and Order SVU marathon on USA right now).
Um, yes, actually, there are quite a few of us who don't nag. We've learned to ask once, clearly, nicely, and with appreciation, and then drop the subject unless the man we're asking specifically asks us to remind him. No sarcasm, no hinting around so that he has to guess what is wanted, no giving inadequate directions, and no sulking or pouting or silent treatment if it isnt done. If he doesn't do what we ask we shrug and do it ourselves. If he does, we express gratitude warmly and reciprocate in some way. It's a nice system and keeps everybody happy, because men really do like doing nice stuff for appreciative women.
So don't conclude all women are nags. You obviously just haven't met women who have read Dr Laura's book The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands.
And I agree with you.You get more bees with honey...
