Awww...you know how it is...
Looked around online and got some answers...BUT...for gun porn, the Freep has been the place to go.
Freepers have always been the mother lode for gun info...
I have several pistols, but just bought a Rock Island Armory 1911, full size, to play around with.
Both as a rock-solid, nearly mil-spec .45 and also as something I could customize and build up as I like.
I'm looking for some advice on sights. This'n's got the GI blade sights. It'll shoot fine, but I'd rather have some better sights on it. I'll have a gunsmith do it, so fit and effort isn't a problem.
What (if any) ideas do you guys [gals] have for sights that'll make this thing a little sexier; easier to pick up the sight picture in low light; sexier; better looking and sexier.
I've already got my Texas state seal grips, hammer, grip safety and trigger all cool.
Now I need to deal with the sights.....
After the sights, all I need is a cool Cowboy outfit!
That’s funny!!!
I gotta figger out how to do both traditional AND these!
Then I can gangsta AND act like a normal, rational human.
Allright - can’t help you with the sights. Mine has Heine, but it came with them, and they’re very nice.
But where did you get the Texas Seal grips?
Gripus.com seems to have some of the coolest grips for the best prices.

Above URL goes the the ultimate .45 self loader.
The Thompson Pistol, It Has Returned!
New for 2008, the Thompson 1927A-1 Deluxe Pistol TA5:

After a long hiatus and great demand, the Thompson Pistol
has returned to the market!
The Thompson Deluxe Pistol TA5 is lightweight with a 10.5”
barrel length and a walnut, horizontal foregrip.
Included with the Thompson TA5 is one of the most famous
accessories, the 50 round Drum magazine.
The authentic Drum is entirely U.S. manufactured to the
specifications that are as close as possible to the
original.
A 30 round stick, 10 round and 100 round Drum magazine are
optional.
Good to GO!
Thus Life, for a time, is good. Raise a glass in your general direction.
I’m enjoying my new SOG Fusion ‘hawk.
Don’t know about the sights, but Briley’s in Houston can put them on for you. For the Cool Cowboy Outfit, when dressed up, get your silver belt buckle from David Dear Silversmith in San Juan Pueblo, SF NM. He will custom make a belt to hang the 1911 on just fine. He is a nice guy to deal with too. In TX you can get his stuff at Pinto Ranch or Maida’s. http://www.daviddear.com/bucklesp3.htm How about that for dressing up your new security item?
Saving Private Ryan had the Sarge toward the end plinking the front of a Gerry tank with his sidearm .45.
I thought he was a captain?
Honestly, I think I am mistaken. He was the Captain. Was Afflack the Sarge.
ROTFLMAOPM
Great stuff. Thanks for all the thoughts.
Now I gotta buckle down and pick something.
Sweet!
I ordered one of these bad boys and a case of 500 rounds of HP ammo last night as an early birthday present to myself.
Total cost delivered to my door: $380.00.
Yea, it ain't a Kimber but I don't care who you are that's a heck of a deal.
That's the piece that's going into the Camelback that stays under the far rear seat in the Durango, cased and unloaded to comply with IL State Laws of course.
Just in case of a sudden zombie attack or something... LOL
My best to you and yours.

I second the Novaks.
There is something you might consider. I don’t like dots on my rear sight. I think a front night sight is sufficiant.
As far as grips, I haven’t found any that are more beautiful than the MonkeyGrips. A set is on my Taurus at my profile page. My son is a friend of the maker. He also makes the grips for Springfield Armory, STI and others.
Tom Sizemore was "The Sarge" (Sgt Mike Horvath)
Tom Hanks character was Captain John Miller.
That movie is almost 11 years old now.
Still one of my absolute favorite WWII movies, I watch it every Memorial Weekend
Oh man - gotta love a good gun thread. Great “line-up”. The wimps on the left have no clue, do they?
ping
yep, he was a captain
Nice pistola. That Czech CZ52 has been piquing my interest of late.
