I understand that 2-year old kids throw temper tantrums -- it's part of growing up. But when that happens, it's incumbent on the parents to have a little consideration for others and remove the tantrum-throwing child from the public place to a private place. There is no reason that others in a place of business should be subjected to a screaming 2-year old.

That said, there was still no excuse for the stranger to slap the kid. If the mother refused to control her child and Walmart's management refused to speak to the mother, then the stranger should have simply left the store and taken his business elsewhere. At least that's how I'd handle it.

Myself included, however from the story there is no indication how long the child was crying or the circumstances surrounding what was going on.
The man had zero business slapping the child - period.

Oh,yes, I would agree with you there.I can't for the life of me understand why a parent with a child that is clearly distressed (really LOUD screaming)would continue to sit at a table in a restaurant and act like it's ok.Not only is it not fun for the child,but there are those who paid good money for a meal out with friends,family,or just to be alone,only to be subjected to this kind of thing.
I've been in a restaurant where small children actually get up from the table and wander over to other patrons,stare at them or throw things-all the while with mom and dad on their cell phones or talking to friends at the table,oblivious to the fact that the child even left the table.
It's not just rude,it's dangerous.Imagine this child being swept up and hustled out the door or into the restroom by some sicko.

When I am out in public, I am confronted by any number of things that bother and annoy me. Where can I find this list of things I shouldn't be subjected to in public?
